As regard to the pro-minnow project by @cryptokannon and @steemcurator03 i would love to bring to you my achievement 6 task. i really appreciate @ cryptokannon for the privilege to write to this community as an existing steemian. i was contemplating on how to put up this post until i read the reference of @ cryptokannon here. Thanks so much it was here i got the clue and clear understanding of what this task is all about. journey with me as i will explain my understanding on this task.

Understanding How Curation Works In Steem

Understanding how curation works is one of the essential thing we ought to know as growing steemians. So i took time to study how it works after deriving some understanding from this post. below are some explanations based on my understanding.

Understanding how voting and curation work in this platform

firstly, there's a system called the "Reward pool". it is fixed on steem blockchain. whenever you upvote on any content created by any author. as you click on the upvote button you will distribute rewards pools to content creator, equally called Author. The higher your steem power(SP) the more reward you can generate from the reward pool. Curators usually get 50% in return based on the reward they have distributed. actually, steem has basically two kind of votes, these are:

  • upvote
  • downvote

Upvoting a post/article is a way of showing appreciation to the author. If you as the curator upvotes a content with enough SP(steem power). your vote will give a greater return the curator that has a lesser SP. it depends on your voting mana. Votin mana is like a strength/energy. it usually starts with 100% mana. every time you cast a vote its depreciates, as you constantly use your mana that's how the influence will decrease.

An article can get a downvotes from a user if the content does not meet with the requirement of steem blockchain or in most cases the post might be an abusive one. if by virtue of things you receive any donvotes from a user, it can be that you violeted the guidelines.

as a new user once you reach 500SP you will see a vote slider appear so you can adjust your voting weight between 100% - 1%.

upvoting on any content is called curation. as the user, you are called the curator and you can also earn rewards as a curator from upvoting on comments. the rewards is usally paid out by 50% to the author and 50% to the curator.

What happens if you vote a post before 5 minutes mark after posting?

once a post is being published on the blockchain, if a curator upvotes the post 100% reward remains at the reward pool, as thee time goes on below is what will happen

TimeCurator RewardsRewards that goes to the pool
After the minute mark20%80%
After 2 minutes40%60%
After 3 minutes60%40%
After 4 minute80%20%
After 5 minutes100%0%

so after upvoting a post as a curator after 5mins 100% of the curation will go to the curator

Who will you vote for Steem Witness ? and Why?

  • What is Witness on steem blockchain?
in steem blockchain, it requires a set of people to develop blocks and as read, it uses a mechanism called DPOS or delegated proof of stake. it usually elects witnesses to serve as the blockchain's block producers and governance body.

There are 20 full-time witnesses, producing a block every 63-second round.
all witnesses are compensated with steem power for each block they develop.

actually from what i have seen so far and the effort that has been put to place here on steemit. I support @steemchiller for his wonderful working of devoloping such an amazing tool steemworld.or and i would also support @justyy for his creativity on steemyy.com. the platform is a great tool and @futureshock who developed steemscan.com. these tools are all great and wonderful. in my previous task i wrote about them. this sets of person are the people i vote based on steem witness. i didn't go through other witnesses but i choose to vote this ones because of the amazing tools they created. those tools are really helping me.

Which community will you join in Steemit, and why?

i joined the platform on october 2019. when i first join this platform i was not aware of the pro-minnow programme. so i had to explore some communities. i joined many communities out of ignorance until i started this project. but below are some communities i really loved after joining them and deeply interested to participate and learn from the authors and their content.
