Achievement 3 by @brendakim//Task: Content Etiquette

Greetings Steemians,

I hope we are all ok.
After completing Achievement 2, I am now moving to the next level of achievement 3 and that is Content Etiquette, here I will discuss about plagiarism.

Definition of Plagiarism
According to Oxford Advanced Learners Dictionary
To copy another person’s ideas, word or work and pretend they are your own.
Collins online Dictionary further defines it as the practice of copying or using someone else’s idea or work and pretending that you thought of it or created it.
It is no doubt people find it easier to plagiarize than to give credit to the author. Plagiarism in my understanding is theft of one’s idea either from a book, an article and owning it as though you are the source.
Plagiarism brings about the following
-is that the author is never acknowledged as one who raised the idea.
-The writer does not give himself the opportunity to engage his brain in a particular line of conversation
-The thought of knowing one will use another’s piece of work encourages laziness by the writer.
Well, there are many ways to avoid plagiarism
One is to provide a reference to every material that you are presenting in your essay. This enables the reader to easily soar to the page and material you are referring to. Imperative to note is that referencing helps the reader to find more information about what you are writing on.
For example on Steemit, if one is drawing inspiration from a text or an article that one wrote, then one should spell it out clearly in your text for example, an article that was written on 15th /06/2021,by @brilliyant .This gives the author credit opens up the readers eyes to the researcher that you are.
