ACHIEVEMENT3 BY @boobss TASK:CONTENT ETIQUETTE
Hi Steemians
As i was going through these content etiquette, i remembered this movie "something the lord made" a true life story, where a Doctor was given a credit for a discovery that was done by a Lab Attendant and the Lab Attendant couldn't do or say anything because he was working under the Doctor and no one would believe him, that to me is the height of plagiarism.
What is plagiarism and what are the different types of it, lets get into it
WHAT IS PLAGIARISM
This is a basic human behaviour that tends to affect another, it is the process whereby ones creativity, thoughts in the form of writing, recordings, arts etc, is being stolen by another person called a Plagiarist.
Some times due to ignorance people engage in these acts, while most times people do it out of laziness and inability to think out something for themselves.
TYPES OF PLAGIARISM
There are Different types of Plagiarism, let's get into it.
1.Direct plagiarism
2.Mosiac plagiarism
3.Self-plagiarism
4.Accidental plagiarism
1.Direct plagiarism
This occurs when someone work is being copied without any referencing or citation or quotation mark being added.
2.Mosaic plagiarism
It occurs due to carelessness of not remembering to add quotation mark after citing someone's work. Here the plagiarist doesn't mean any harm but due to his carelessness it now appears as if he does. This looks a bit similar to Accidental plagiarism.
3.Self-plagiarism
When the owner of a content tends to annoy his audience by repeated uploading of part or all his contents this leads to Self-plagiarism.
4.Accidental plagiarism
This occurs by accident as the name goes, here the writer cites the work but cites it wrongly/ inappropriately.
CONSEQUENCES OF PLAGIARISM
There are different consequences of plagiarism depending on the institution the act was commited, ranging from Suspension, expulsion, payment of fine etc.
THINGS TO DO TO AVIOD PLAGIARISM
1.There's no limit to what your mind can create, hence try and create good contents.
2.Where you have to use other peoples work, cite properly.
3.Use quotation mark when citing peoples work.
4.The last but not the least you can check your work using any plagiarism checker.
CONCLUSION
Plagiarism is an unlawful act and ignorance shouldn't be an excuse to indulge in it, to avoid being faced with the consequences that comes with it.
