Hi fellow Steemit , I am privileged to share with you my Achievement 3. This post will cover the ethics about children contents that are posted on the Steemit platform. Specific objectives of this post are: Plagiarism, Types of plagiarism and Ways to avoid plagiarism.

Plagiarism explained
Plagiarism simply refers to when an individual of makes use someone else’s work, ideas or creation as if they were his or her own ideas without making references to the owner of the idea.

A common example when a student makes use of information from the internet (i.e. Google) for his or her project work and refuses provide reference the to the information he is using. It also occurs when one paraphrases a source whiles such as retaining major words or using synonyms for the author’s words and maintains the main ideas.

Types of Plagiarism
Plagiarism may occur in different ways. Below are four common types of plagiarism which would be discussed:
Accidental plagiarism
Direct plagiarism
Self plagiarism
Mosaic plagiarism

Accidental plagiarism
Accidental plagiarism is the type which occurs unintentionally as a result of inappropriate citations or error in citations. It may also be caused by neglecting to quote the original owner of the idea or using similar of words as given in the original work.

Direct plagiarism
Direct plagiarism is using precisely the same words of a sections of someone else's work without quotation marks. This is seen as deliberate plagiarism and considered academically dishonest which may call for disciplinary actions.

Self-plagiarism
Self plagiarism refers to the act of submitting an individual’s old work for academic purposes. In other words it refers to paraphrasing or copying sections of your previous work for your term paper without seeking permission from your old and current supervisors.
For instance, when a student submits an old assignment or term paper as his project work without consulting appropriate authorities.

Mosaic plagiarism
Mosaic Plagiarism is the type of plagiarism occurs when uses of the an individual copies sections from a someone’s document without quoting the original author or using quotation marks. In some instances, the writer may use synonyms for the words of the original author while he maintains the main ideas without acknowledging the author.

Citation
Citation is defined as an expression by someone that may be used or quoted in your write-ups or work.
Example of citation is illustrated below:

Ways of Avoiding Plagiarism
Plagiarism may be avoided by these under listed points:

Present your own idea
In your work, ensure that ideas you use are from your own creativity.

Cite your source
Provide references to texts or contents you copy from Google or other people’s work.

Include quotations
Place contents or ideas you copy from other people’s work in quotation marks (“ “).

Use a plagiarism checker
Use a software or website to check project work or term paper to find out whether the content you are presenting is original.
