Achievement 3 by @blessedbee Task: Content Etiquette

in Newcomers' Communitylast month

Hello my beloved friends on the steemit platform, how are you? I hope you are fine, and that you are having a great week.

I am here once more, but this time to perform my achievement 3 tasks. During my performing this achievement task, I will get myself, and my readers acquainted with;

The knowledge of the brain proves - that is writing content from one's brain. Therefore abstaining from plagiarism.

The essential understanding of writing and posting original content.

The steemit community etiquette- set of rules.

Let me begin by writing about plagiarism.

PLAGIARISM

Plagiarism has to do with a writer copying or using another person's work, ideas, or words without acknowledging or attributing the owner.

A plagiarist will try to make another person's work look like his, he makes use of images and text from another person's work without acknowledgment of the owner.

Plagiarism comes in types, these are;

  1. Direct plagiarism

  2. Self-plagiarism

  3. Mosaic plagiarism

  4. Accidental plagiarism

Direct plagiarism: This type of plagiarism is the direct copy or use(word to word) of another person's content, or images without acknowledging the owner fully. This is very unethical, and the owner may decide to sue the plagiarist.

Self-plagiarism: when a content creator repeats his work or mixes part of his previous work, this act is known as self-plagiarism.

Mosaic plagiarism: when a content creator uses another person's wording without the use of quotation marks, and without acknowledging the person, and when a content creator paraphrases another person's work without acknowledging the person, this act is known as mosaic plagiarism.

Accidental plagiarism: accidental plagiarism occurs when a content creator fails to mention his source, misquotes his source, or unintentionally paraphrases another person's work with the same wording or group of wording.

Here on steemit plagiarism is highly prohibited, it does not speak well of the writer, and it brings about embarrassment. Therefore to avoid this, another person's work must be properly quoted and sourced, and we should write from our brains( proof of brain), this will make the content original, which is very essential.

At this juncture, I want to perform my task, I will do this by quoting another person's work and properly sourcing it, paraphrasing another person's work and properly sourcing it, using the markdown > when quoting another person's work, and at the end, I will write about steemit content etiquette.

MY TASK

"a strong feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection, such as for a parent, child, friend, or pet" source

Love can be defined as a strong feeling of warm special attachment or deep affection, such as for a parent, offspring, pal, or pet
source

From the above, we can see that the definition of love comes in two paragraphs, the first;

"a strong feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection, such as for a parent, child, friend, or pet" source

From this one, I used direct wording from the dictionary, so to avoid plagiarizing, I used quotation marks at the beginning and the end of the sentence, but not just that, I acknowledged the owner by mentioning the source. With this, the readers of my content can go to the source and get more information, and the source would not be offended knowing he has been acknowledged.

The second definition;

Love can be defined as a strong feeling of warm special attachment or deep affection, such as for a parent, offspring, pal, or petsource

From this one, we can see that the definition is a paraphrase, as such quotations are not used, to avoid being a plagiarist, the source is mentioned.

Using another person's images:

On steemit, using another person's images is allowed, but it should be from copyright-free sites, such as;

https://unsplash.com/

https://pexels.com/

https://Freepik.com/

https://pixabay.com/

After, uploading the images, the source must be properly mentioned. I performed this with the following image;

I don't use plagiarism images from Shutterstock as directed because the images are no longer free, so I decided to use the one from Pixabay.

Let me finally educate myself and my readers on steemit content etiquette.

ETIQUETTE

This is simply a set of rules that govern the writing and sharing of content on the steemit platform, and how we should relate with other users on the platform.

There are twenty-nine etiquette on the steemit platform as written by @steem.history. But I will only highlight them.

  1. When posting, a user should also comment and vote on other users' content.

  2. A user should not post ten times a day, he should preferably post at most 4 times a day, if he does post more than 4 times, his payouts will reduce.

  3. Nudity should not be posted by a steemit user unless he tags it with NSFW.

  4. A steemit user should not be a plagiarist.

  5. A steemit user should not use tags that are not related to his content

  6. A steemit user should not re-steem every post he comes across.

  7. A steemit user should not directly ask for votes.

  8. A steemit user should not vote on the contents of other users because he wants them to also vote on his posts. He should do so because he has read the post and found it quality and worthy of voting on.

  9. A steemit user should not bribe other users for votes, re-esteem of his post, follow, or directly beg for money.

  10. Steemit wallet should not be used to get attention from other users by sending from the wallet to them with the motive of showy display.

The above are just ten out of the twenty-nine etiquette. For the complete etiquette read here

The weight is reduced because of the lack of Voting Power. If you vote for me as a witness, you can get my little vote.

Content etiquette seems heart of this platform. It varies quality and original content . Nice to know about plagiarism.

Thank you very much.

 last month (edited)

Hi @blessedbee we've seen that you're progressing and have been active for the past 1 month, as such we want to commend you for keeping it up! We would like you to move to your 1st Progress Report:

Please, don't use these points as a template - templates are so boring 🥱 - we're interested in hearing about your experience so far. You could use some of the following ideas as prompts...

  • A summary of the communities you've joined, why you've joined them, which you like the most, and why.

  • The topics you've been writing about.

  • A list of key people you've interacted with. An introduction to the people who have had the biggest impact on your experience so far (NOT an opportunity to tag whales) and the unexpected relationships that you've experienced.

  • Your most successful post - Why do you think it was successful?

  • Other observations - What have you learned and discovered that you weren't expecting to?

  • Your plan and expectations for the next month on the platform (please don't mention growing your account!)

Thank you very much for the commendation, I will report as soon as I can.
