ACHIEVEMENT 2: Basic security keys by @beniba

My name is @beniba and I'm very happy to take part in the achievement 2 task, which entails everything about steemit security. My appreciation to my very good friend @massachussets for your all the insightful talks and words of encouragement and for introducing me to the steemit community. Passwords or keys as used in steemit are used to prevent unauthorized people from opening or having access to your account; because of its importance it is very necessary that we understand the various keys available in steemit and understand how it works.

Steemit gives 5 different keys, each has its unique function these keys needs to kept safe and sound and out of reach of others. It is advisable you save them in an external drive for easy access where ever you are. The use of steem keys depends on the task at hand.

The following are the names of all the keys and their functions as well.

POSTING KEYS: It is stipulated that users use these keys to perform everyday tasks such as posting, editing, resteeming voting, and following or muting people’s accounts.

ACTIVE KEYS: These keys were created specifically for tasks like transferring money, power up/down transactions, converting Steem dollars, witness voting, updating profile information and placing an order in the market.

OWNER KEYS: This is considered the most important key. It is the only key that can modify any account's key, including itself (owner key). The owner key must be kept in a different place for security reasons, since it is the key used to restore an account when it gets compromised.

MEMO KEY: It is used to send and receive encrypted messages. It must also be kept safe and secured.

MASTER KEY: This is a very important key too if not the most of them all because it is the first key you you are given after signing up and it is also the key used to generate rest of the keys. When a second person grts this key your account can be stolen or compromised. When you lose the master key and the owner key it means you have virtually lost your account and all that you have worked for so it is advisable to keep an offline copy of these keys.

STEEMIT WALLET: steemit wallet is made up of 3 different types of steem.: Steem, steem power, and steem back dollar (SBD).
Let's understand them.
Steem is a liquid form of cryptocurrency that is used for internal transactions and is also used to power up a steem power.
Steem power: This is the type of steem that enables you to comment and perform many transactions on the steemit blockchain. This steem is locked up and can be changed into liquid steem which happens after 4 weeks..
Steem Back Dollar is a steem that may be transferred to a different account or traded for steem in a liquid form on the digital market.

LEARN HOW TO POWER UP
Go to profile
Select wallet

Select steem with a an arrow pointing downwards.
Select power up

Enter the amount you want to power up on click on power up for confirmation.

HOW TO TRANSFER TOKEN TO A DIFFERENT ACCOUNT.

Click on wallet

Select transfer from the menu.

Select steem.
Enter the amount and username of the recipient and click on next to confirm transfer.
