Hello steemians, it will interest you to know that I have learnt alot in few days I have been on steemit.

This task is going to be an interesting one because I will be trying out a little of what I have learnt, after going through the markdown template, which happens to be the objectives of the Task.

I will like to carry out this task by writing an article on Domestic violence, showing at least 5 markdown provided in this task.

Domestic Violence

What is Domestic Violence?

"This is a pattern of abusive behavior in any relationship that is used by one partner to gain or maintain control over another intimate partner." ^Source

The fear of always been violently abused keeps victims in the shadow of themselves and makes them live in fears all the time. In some cases, the fear kills the victims.

Of course, there isn't necessarily something to be done by victims before they are violently abused because abusers does this to exercise and maintain power over victims.

This means, it can be a child or adult, male or female, rich or poor, employer or employee, as the case may be.

It occurs in intimate relationships, families, schools, and even organizations. Victims are threatened most times not to speak to anyone.

Types of Domestic Violence

There are many types or forms of Domestic violence but i'm gonna talk on the three that are most common in the society.

• Physical Abuse:

This is common in our society today because it seems like a normal act of correction but it isn't. So many abuse is hidden in the shell of correction especially in cases of children.

It involves the use of forces, like slap, punch, or weapons, like whip, belt, Cutlass or drugs which results in causing harm or injury to the victim.

Physically abused victims can include wives, children, maids and employees in some cases.

• Emotional Abuse:

Sometime in our lives, we must have been victims s of emotional abuse.
It has to do with self-worth reduction by constant humiliation, abuse and criticism, thereby leaving victims with low self esteem.

It is very common in our society because physical abuse kick-starts from this level but it is difficult to detect a victim of emotional abuse untill it skyrockets to physical abuse.

• Sexual Abuse:

Sexual abuse has always been known to be only rape. There are other ways one can be sexually abused, a man has right to have sexually intercourse with wife at any time but it becomes an abuse when the woman is forced to do against her will.

Other Sexual abusive act can include, forceful denial of use if contraceptive or abortion. Victims in some cases loss their lives especially when help isn't coming.

Remedy to Domestic Violence

It will interest you to know that victims sometimes covers up for their abuser, hoping that things with improve.

There have been many cases of domestic violence that led to death. There are important measures to be taken generally when in situation as such;

1. Get tired of the situation
2. Save your life by leaving(if possible)
3. Speak to someone who would listen

It will surprising how just this 3 steps would save a life when taken. A man once said and I quote;
