What is PLAGIARISM

Plagiarism is basically cutting off someone else’s work and not claiming it is yours, or quoting or quoting the original source. This is especially bad for creatives (writers, artists, etc.) and personally I think it’s bad for photographers and other visual artists, because they work hard to create the original work and anyone can come and just copy and paste their work. Of course it’s lazy, it seems modern society and / or social media platforms encourage this kind of behavior.

All published and unpublished material, whether in manuscript, printed or electronic form, is covered under this definition.

How to avoid Plagiarism

  • Follow the sources you recommend in your research.

  • Paragraphs or quotes from your source (and add your own ideas).

  • Credit the original author to an in-text quote and reference list.

  • Use a plagiarism checker before you submit.

Here are some examples of Plagiarism:

  • To turn the work of others into one's own.

  • Copying large pieces from a source without quoting the source.

  • Take passages from multiple sources, pike them together, and start working as your own.

  • Copying from source but changing some words and phrases in the guise of plagiarism.

  • Paraphrasing from different sources without quoting sources.

  • Removing the work you did for another class without first getting permission from your professor.

  • Buy an essay or paper and turn it into your own work.
