Q#1 have you retrieved all of your keys?

As mentioned in the objective, I have to retrieve all my keys in order to keep my account safe and secure from hackers. I have remembered my password but if it is lost there is no way to log into the account. So, I have used various means of storing keys such as kept in my laptop, uploading it on my drive and also making a copy of it and put it in a specified locker where no one can reach.

Q#2 Do you know each of these key functions and restrictions?

There are different keys for each specific function on the steemit platform. I f we want to secure our account, we should know all the keys and their pros and cons. It helps in building a good security wall for the account as well as increases the knowledge about the terms and policies of the platform. Important keys are as follows:

Posting Key

This is the most helpful key to use while using the steemit. With the help of this key we can post, comment, share and vote. If we want to use our account, we just have to log in using the posting key rather than using major keys like master key. We can resteem and also follow other accounts using posting key. If our account is hacked and it is been logged in using the posting key, then it will only allow to vote for the spasms which will be a minor risk for the account holder. These kinds of restrictions make keys more useful.

Active Key

This is the second most preferred key used by the users. By using this key, we can do some subtle works which can’t be performed using the posting key. Active key enables us to convert the steem into dollars, placing a market order, voting for witness and transferring funds etc. Profile details and avatar can also be updated using the active key. The entire digital asset present in the account will be at risk if some unknown person will get this key. So, we have to make sure to secure it properly.

Owner Key

This is one of the powerful keys used so far. It can only be used if there is a need of it. Any key for the account can be changed by using the owner key. So, it will be a wise decision to save it in a secure environment. It will be nice to make a copy of it and store it offline as well.

Memo Key

When we are transferring funds, memo keys can be used to decrypt or encrypt the memos significantly. Pound sign before the key is used in order to encrypt a memo. It is a useful key but not as much important as are the other keys.

Q#3 How do you plan to keep your master password?

Master password is the ultimate key that can be used for a account. It corresponds to the formation of all the keys and even to change them. We can easily change all of our keys by pasting this key and penetrating a new one. So the account holder should save this key in a very safe environment. A copy of it should be saved offline and also in a separate hard drive which is kept private from the others. Master key ensures that no one can penetrate into the account easily. So, if we want to use account, the generated keys should be used to use the account instead of the Master key itself.
