Steemit has content etiquettes which are the rules and regulations that individual members must adhered to in order to stay in the various communities without facing problems. In this post , I will give a detail explanation of plagiarism.

Plagiarism means taking someone's work or ideas and using as your own without citing or acknowledging or crediting the person. At times, people post other people’s work or content without providing reference. This is what is refers to as plagiarism.

Types of plagiarism:

  • Accidental plagiarism
  • Complete plagiarism
  • Direct plagiarism
  • Self plagiarism
  • Paraphrasic plagiarism

Accidental plagiarism

Accidental plagiarism is a situation whereby someone inadvertently posts his or her own content which matches someone's work.

Complete plagiarism

Complete plagiarism is the copying of the entire work of other people without providing reference to the work which has been copied.

Direct plagiarism

This is a type of plagiarism where the writer copies other people’s work word for word and craft it as their own

Self plagiarism

Self plagiarism is a situation where a writer copies his or her own work word for word which has already been shared without giving reference.

Paraphrasic plagiarism

This is a type of plagiarism where the writer edits people work and make it their own without providing reference.

Steemit frown upon any individual who engages him or herself in plagiarism. We must stay real and true to ourselves without deceiving others. We shouldn't share something which does not belong to us without giving a citation or crediting the source. We must write about things which we have adequate knowledge and desist from stealing other people’s hard work.
Plagiarism is not a good practice hence we should endeavor to stay away from it.

I have read and understood the content etiquettes of steemit and I pledge to abide it.

Thank you for your time dear steemit.
