Presentation is very vital in content creation. Well enriched content with poor presentation or rendering style will yield poor result. Knowing the importance of presentation, I am writing my achievement 4 which shows my understanding of markdown styles. I am writing on the concept Leadership.

What is leadership?

Leadership is one of the concepts with varying definitions and views. But this old proverb summarizes leadership “he who thinketh he leadeth and hath no followers is only taking a walk”.
Now lets get the definition of leadership from some exceptional leadership coaches. When asked what is leadership? James C. Georges has this to say

”Remove for a moment the moral issues behind it, there is only one definition. Leadership is the ability to obtain followers”- James C. Georges
“A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.” – John C. Maxwell.

From the above we can conclude that leadership is all about having the ability to earn followership.

Ingredients of Outstanding Leadership

From my personal study and findings, there are two basic ingredients a leader who wants to be successful mus possess. Namely:

• Competence and
• Character

Competence is the ability or capacity a leader has to carry out his duties professionally. The building blocks of a leader’s competence are skills, knowledge, experience, goals, ethics amongst many others.
Character

Character tells more about the moral characteristics of a person, in terms of sincerity, politeness, punctuality and so on.
The two ingredients mentioned above are very vital for an outstanding leader. Lets take this scenario.
Scenario 1:
We have a leader who is competent(knows his/her Job very well) but lacks character, the leader will definitely not stand the test of time because he could do his job and might not be honest and as a result wreck the followers
Scenerio2:
We have a leader who has proven character ( he's honest, punctual, polite etc.) but lacks knowledge, skills and goals for the job. That leader will also not succeed.
Therefore the two ingredients mentioned above is necessary for effective leadership.

Characteristics of a good leader

We have leaders in various organizations and places, some are leaders by virtue of position we can call this type of leaders “boss”. while others are genuine leaders ( leaders by example). Lets explore a few characteristics of leaders these two types of leaders.

Drives his workers	coaches his workers
Depends on his authority	depends on goodwill
Induce fear	inspire enthusiasm
Always seeking blames	always seeking solution
Can get the job done	do the job, teach and motivate other to do same

Summary

We can all be good leaders if we recognize our shortfalls and resolve to consistently improve daily while emulating outstanding leaders in our chosen field.
