Hello guys, good day my eSTEEMed STEEMmians, today we will be going deep into my achievement 2,

which is Basic security on steem. It's the second task for every new members of this Community which I believed it key and important because Basic Security is one of the basics all of us should understand.

What is security?

Security means safety, as well as the measures taken to be safe or protected. In order to provide adequate security for the parade, town officials often hire extra guards. Security can easily be defined as being free. It is all the measures taken to protect something so as to be free from danger(s).

what is cyber security?

Cyber security refers to the body of technologies, processes, and practices designed to protect networks, devices, programs, and data from attack, damage, or unauthorized access. Cyber security may also be referred to as information technology security.

Let's talk about security as related to our steem accounts.

How can i keep my steemit account secure?
Keeping your steem account secured is as important and as easy as anything. There are many ways through which you can keep your steem account secured.

All keys associated to your account should be copied and saved in a safe place.

As regards to the saving of all your keys, steemit as made it very easy for users to download the PDF of their private keys which is another way of accessing your account.

Make sure all keys are used accordingly. Each key has it purpose, so their usage should be according to their purposes.

Note:
Don't ever share any of your keys to a third party (whether site or person). Privatize your keys and keep it safely.

Master password

Your Master password must be kept safely. You can use it whenever you want to change your password.

Why we must be careful with our master password
Just as the name implies "master", it is through this key all other keys can be derived. With your master key, you can get all other keys including your owner's key. Also, with this key, anybody can hack into your account and steal all your tokens.

Now, Let's talk about the various keys we have in the steemit account.

POSTING KEYS:
These are keys that are used for posting commenting, resteeming and voting. They do have some restrictions too, in areas such as financial transactions they can't be used.

ACTIVE KEYS:
The most important use of this key is for monetary transactions and exchanges. But it can also be used for SBD conversion, power up or down and also, for some certain profile change.

OWNER'S KEYS:
The owner's key have almost the same function as the master password. Just like the master password, it can be used to change other keys. It can also be used to recover accounts. With the master keys the form the most sensitive key, and as such, they should be secured properly.

MEMO KEY:
This a key though has little function, it is used to encrypt and decrypt blockchain messages.

PUBLIC KEY:
This keys are use to look up transactions on blockchain. they are rather used to identify a specific transaction associated to the blockchain.

How to transfer your steem token to another steem user account.

After clicking on your wallet, you click on the arrow facing downward just beside your STEEM amount.

When you click on that arrow, a drop-down menu appears, click on transfer.

Now after clicking on the "transfer" option, a page will open for you to fill the recipient account details, including the amount of steem you want to send.

Make sure you fill in the spaces correctly, just like the example below, then click on next.

The next page requires you to confirm your transaction. Just click on "ok" after confirming it.

Now, input your active key, owner key or master key to complete the transaction.

Now, this is how to power up your steem.

Click on the same arrow facing down beside your STEEM balance and a drop-down menu appears.

On this drop-down menu, click on power up.

Input the amount of Steems you want to power up and continue with your transaction using the appropriate key.
