TYPES OF PLAGIARISM

  1. Paraphrasing Plagiarism: This is the type of plagiarism in which one rephrases the idea of another without citing the source. It is a very serious type of plagiarism and must be avoided.

  2. Self Plagiarism: This type involves the reuse of ideas or passages from your own work submitted earlier. This type of plagiarism is moderate and not that really considerate.

  3. Global Plagiarism: This type also involves one taking the entire work of another and uses it as his own work. It is a very severe type of plagiarism.

  4. Verbatim Plagiarism: This is where one directly copies a passage of text without citation.

  5. Mosaic Plagiarism: This is a type of plagiarism where one copies ideas from different sources without citing the source.

source

Citation is the act of alerting your readers to know that certain ideas in your work came from different sources.

TYPES OF CITATION STYLES USED

  1. Modern Language Association(MLA)

  2. American Psychological Association(APA)

  3. Chicago/Turabian style

EXAMPLE OF CITATION

Books help one to write down and keep information.
"As an intellectual object, a book is prototypically a composition of such great length that it takes a considerable investment of time to compose and still considered as an investment of time to read".source

From the above information, it has only one original sentence:

Books help one to write down and keep information

The next sentence is directly copied from a source without any changes made, thus quoted:

As an intellectual object, a book is prototypically a composition of such great length that it takes a considerable investment of time to compose and still considered as an investment of time to read.source

CONCLUSION

It is very advisable that we cite our sources of information whenever we take them from other sources in order to make our post very unique and original.
