Achievement 3 by @abenad Task: Content Etiquette

in Newcomers' Community3 years ago (edited)

Hello fellow steemians of this community,I am so excited to present to you my opinions about plagiarism as required of me by @cryptokannon for my achievement 3.

Plagiarism simply means copying someone's work and making small modifications to make it seem yours without giving him or her any form of credit.

Plagiarism is very unethical and does not have any advantage but it has quite a number of disadvantages.Below are four of its disadvantages;
1.Worse of it all,you could get banned from a community after you're being identified as a plagiarist.

2.It marks you as a thief,since taking someone's work and making it yours without the person's acknowledgement is stealing.

3.You could end up losing your reputation, support and trust from your readers.

4.It tells yours readers you don't have any creative ideas, writing skills and don't have the ability of bringing out your own work.

To avoid plagiarism,you must always try as much as possible to create your own content and if there's the need to use someone's work, you have to give acknowledgement by citing the source.

Example 1;
You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time.
These are the words of Abraham Lincoln and it is wrong not to give him credit for it
The right thing to do:
"You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time", Abraham Lincoln.

Example 2;

"Success is the state or condition of meeting a defined range of expectations. It may be viewed as the opposite of failure. The criteria for success depend on context, and may be relative to a particular observer or belief system."source

These include images.
You must always make sure the images you use in your work are copyright free and you must cite their sources as well if they are not yours,just as I did above.

I have read and understood the Steemit Etiquette on Steemit Community and will do my best to embrace them.
