What is plagiarism?
Plagiarism is simply taking the idea of someone in your writing without giving credit to the fellow. This is done with the intention of being the author.
Types of plagiarism
Self Plagiarism
Self-plagiarism is when one submits his/her own old work, or blends parts of old works, without authority from the professors involved. An example is, it would not be acceptable to take in part of a term paper you wrote in high school into a paper allocated in a tertiary course.
Mosaic Plagiarism
Mosaic Plagiarism occurs when an individual take phrases from a different place without using quotation marks, or gets synonyms for the author’s language while possessing to the same overall form and definition of the original.
Verbatim Plagiarism
This is where an individual directly copies a passage or sentence from a source without citation.
Direct Plagiarism
Direct plagiarism is the word-for-word report of a portion of someone else’s work, without acknowledging and quotation marks. The advised plagiarism of someone else's work is illegal and grounds for disciplinary actions.
Paraphrasing plagiarism
This is the most common type of plagiarism. It includes using of someone else’s work with some small corrections in the sentences and using it as one’s own. The original content remains the same, even if the words depart from each other.
Effects Of Plagiarism
Practicing plagiarism leads to expulsion.
It also inspire sloppy research.
It gives low grades to the individual.
It also brings out the worse in individuals.

Follow these four steps to ensure your paper is free from plagiarism:
1.Keep track of the sources you consult in your research.
2.Paraphrase or quote from your sources (and add your own ideas).
3.Credit the original author in an in-text citation and reference list.
4.Use a plagiarism checker before you submit.

Citation
Citation is the way you inform your readers that a particular material in your work came from different source. It also provides your readers the information crucial to find the area details of that source on the reference.

American Psychological Association(APA)
Chicago or Turabian style
Modern Language Association(MLA)
Why Should You Cite Sources?
We cite sources to give acknowledgement to the source authors.
To prevent one from getting low grades or failing.
To build up your work by giving outside grounds to your concepts.
To make easy access to your research by your readers.
Conclusion
Citing of source is very important so far as plagiarism is concern. It is always good for us to cite our sources to make our research complete and prevent loss of marks and failure.
