Hello fellow Steemians! I would like to appreciate @njaywan for guidance and @cryptokannon for the achievement 3 post that guides me on my journey to fully understanding Steemit. I have learnt quite a lot from the Achievement 3 Post and I'm elated to present to you my Achievement 3 post. Here it goes...

Plagiarism is the act of using someone's idea, expression, thoughts or even an image in your work without citing and referencing the person thereby posing it as yours.

Plagiarism is one act that is really frowned upon in the academic and creative-writing setting. Though it is not a crime, it is considered as a misdemeanor and usually punishable by fines. Plagiarism comes in many forms, but some of the commonest types are:

• Complete Plagiarism
  Complete Plagiarism occurs when one copies the entirety of an another author's work, thus passing it as his/her own work. This misdemeanor is equivalent to Intellectual Theft and Stealing.

• Direct Plagiarism
  This is the situation where one copies an author's work word-for-word or verbatim and uses it without citing or referencing. This is almost like Complete Plagiarism , except, it has to do with just sections or parts of the idea.

• Source-Based Plagiarism
  This can occur when an author cites a wrong or incorrect source while referencing in his work. It can also occur when an author uses two(2) sources and cites the primary but forgets to cite the secondary source and vice versa.

• Accidental Plagiarism
  Even though plagiarism is unaccepted on many grounds, as humans as we are, there may be instances where authors may fail to reference their sources; ignorantly, mistakenly or even by forgetting.

There are so many ways to prevent Plagiarism, but the best way to prevent Plagiarism, is to abstain from copying and where it is necessary, ensure that citing and referencing has been done.

As bloggers or authors, how can we know if we are plagiarizing? The answer is, there are so many websites that can help us know whether or not we are plagiarizing; and even with these websites there's a system that makes you know when your work is plagiarized. For academic work , the maximum acceptable score of plagiarism is 15% and if the score exceeds 15% the work is termed plagiarized. Some of the websites I know of, are;

Having read The Complete Steemit Etiquette Guide(Revision 2.0)-Homage, a summary of what I could gather is to respect each and everyone in this Steemit Community including myself and also do unto others what I expect them to do to me.

Plagiarism is very offensive because no one would like to create something for people to use it without giving them credit. I therefore urge everyone to desist and abstain from plagiarism. Cheers Guys!
