Guggenheim Museum | Architectural Photography - Contest

This image is of the part of the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao that overlooks the estuary of the same name. The project is the work of the Canadian architect Frank Gehry, commissioned by the city and the autonomous Basque government. The key element on the outside are the titanium plates that create organic forms, and are a risky bet, at the time, to modernise a city that in the 1990s had entered into clear decadence. It can be said that the building completely changed the physiognomy of the urban centre of Bilbao, making the city evolve into a much more avant-garde and innovative structure.

Esta imagen es de la parte del Museo Guggenheim de Bilbao que da a la ría del mismo nombre. El proyecto es obra del arquitecto canadiense Frank Gehry por encargo de la ciudad y del gobierno autónomo Vasco. El elemento clave de la parte exterior son las placas de titanio que crean formas orgánicas, y son una apuesta, en su momento arriesgada, de modernizar una ciudad que en la década de los 90 había entrado en franca decadencia. Se puede decir que el edificio cambió por completo la fisonomía del centro urbano de Bilbao, haciendo que la urbe evolucionara a una estructura mucho más vanguardista e innovadora.
