One day in my town : Singapore

This post is for @greatketty contest which you can find here. I also invite @arrabela and @hursh to join us.

What to do in Singapore? Huuh, the bigger question is what not to do in Singapore. I guess you'll be in Singapore just for a couple of days, and for that, it's crucial to plan your visit good. This way, you'll be able to see as much as you can. Singapore is an amazing city that offers a lot. Here you can have good food and drink, the price can vary from cheap to very expensive. You can attend many things for some fee or visit a bunch of them for free. The city is waiting for you no matter the depth of your wallet. Ok, to be honest, your wallet better is fat. This city is one of the expensive.

This post will give you some great hints, and a plan for seeing as much as possible in a short period. Of course, our hints will be in our style – food, drink, and art. In Singapore, the commute is very easy. I suggest you buy the EZ-link card or use the application for it. You can top up money and use it for both Bus and MRT. The connections are great, and they are expanding it all the time. Be sure to check a map I did just for you. It is at the end of a post.

Start your visit with some nature experience and visit Botanic Garden. This place is huge, so make sure you had some good breakfast before the visit. To be like a real Singaporeans, go ahead and order some Kaya toast with runny eggs and Kopi O on the side. This dish is traditional, and you will find it everywhere and anytime. They just love all day long breakfast, and I don’t blame them, more like approve this philosophy.

Now when you got lost in the park and checked the National Orchid Garden you are more than ready for some good lunch. Not far from here you have Orchard Road. Full of shopping malls and food courts aka hawkers. These hawkers will be your best friends during the visit, and you should praise them! Singaporeans are serious when it comes to food. I hope you already read our food suggestions. If not, do it. After lunch and exhausting shopping, you can take your break and some high tea. Here in Orchard, you have Arteastiq where you can have solid high tea and if you are lucky also watch some art jam.

The next day you can continue with your nature walk, but this time indoors. I recommend you visit Cloud and Flower Domes with OCBC Skyway and a great walk around Marina Bay Sands. Don’t forget to visit main sights like Merlion, National Gallery, Theaters on the Bay – Esplanade, Art Museum and famous Raffles Hotel. Take your lunch in some hawker and complete it with high tea at Anti:dote. You will love the food here, and their tea selection is amazing.

In the afternoon you should plan a Chinatown visit and take your walk in this hectic street. Grab an early dinner in Yum Cha restaurant, where you won’t find tourists, but delicious food. There you will find the best dim sums you ever had. When the dark falls you should go back to the Gardens by the Bay. The lights here will amaze you! Just make sure you'll be there before 9 PM when the light show is on. Here near you can visit Marina Bay Sands and get some drinks.

Merlion is must-see in Singapore

The days go by and the next morning I recommend you visit bohemian streets with graffiti and some hipster bars – Haji Lane. Not so far from there, you can go to the Little India district where you can watch the life of their residents. Visiting Mustafa Center shopping mall is a must. Just for a quick tour, to see how ridiculous this mall is and I guarantee, you'll be lost in there.

Atlas Bar is in art deco style. It will take you right into The Great Gatsby scene

Take your lunch at Komala Vilas, where they have delicious butter chicken. Enjoy Indian food and cool down with some good cocktail. You can go and find the hidden bar – Bar stories or visit Art Deco Style Atlas Bar with their 1,000 plus collection of gins. Anyway, if you choose a hidden bar and you like this philosophy, make sure you don’t forget to check the 28HK bar!

Still dizzy from the previous day you should visit Haw Par Villa. This place can’t be described other than WTF. After the walk, you can go to the Friends Bar and feel like one of them, while sipping your coffee on the similar couch they had. Not so far from here is Joo Chiat Street, where you can observe the old Peranakan-style houses and make some good photos. Your other destination can be Haji Lane with a lot of Hipster and "Hygge" cafes.
