STEEM PLANTS CONTEST of the week #11 : Caladium (Taro) Coloring My Garden

Hello friends #Steem-BRU, this is my first post in this community, I come from the province of Aceh, located at the end of zero kilometers of the country of Indonesia. I saw a post @knopka145 in the @Steem-BRU Community about a plant contest which inspired me to participate because my hobbies are farming and gardening, here I will introduce the types of plants I plant in my house

Caladium (Taro)

Caladium is a type of taro plant, this plant was first discovered in Brazil and has now spread throughout the world and has tens of thousands of species with the best hybrids in the hands of ornamental plant farmers.

Caladium can be reproduced in several ways, namely :

1. Separation of children

Caladium usually has children who grow next to the broodstock, when the size of the child reaches 10 cm - 20 cm, the caladium chicks can be separated because the puppies already have strong roots for their growth, for photos you can see below:

2. Cutting the Bulbs

Caladium has a tuber at the bottom of the stem and near the root, caladium can be multiplied by chopping the tubers by looking at the buds and you can see it in the photo.

3. Seeding seeds (pollen / hybrid mating)

Caladium can also be done by mating pollen between one type of caladium and another type of caladium, this process takes a long time, but produces types of caladium hybrids that are very beautiful and attractive as in the following photo :

In planting caladium, I use compost planting media in the form of fermented leaves and fermented rice husks, because caladium likes moist growing media and media that has cavities so that root and tuber growth can be better and make plants fertile, for growing media. we can see this in the following photo

The planting medium has a big influence on root growth and plant fertility, so I use leaf compost planting media and make a very light pot like in the photo.

In planting caladium, I use a cover system on caladium tillers so that the growth of caladium tillers is fast and fertile, the lid system can use cup media, plastic, serofoam and a plastic housing as in the following photo,

The limited location makes me have to take advantage of the small empty space to fill all kinds of my flower collections which makes me have to think hard about all of this
