THIRD WEEK OF THE CONTEST ONE DAY IN MY TOWN BY @mbozekobrice

Weekend greetings fellow steemians.

MY CITY

I am from Bamenda, the chief city of the North West region of Cameroon. Bamenda City has a current population of 533, 000 persons. Being the headquarter of the North West region, it has a cross section of all villages found in the region including persons from other parts of the country and other countries like #nigeria #congo amongst others. The main language spoken here is Pidgin English amongst English, French and various native languages.
The main activities that characterise the town's days are businesses, Agriculture, schooling. Everyone atleast falls under a category or others to earn a living and survive. Since the Anglophone crises in 2016, the activities have really been slow with a lot of deaths, familiy displacements and other ills. As the saying goes, once there is a will, there is a way; the inhabitants of this area have not thought of stopping a single day because of the circumstances but keep looking for ways to survive.
Bamenda has touristic sites like the palaces of its traditional rulers, lakes, waterfalls, zoos, arts and crafts centres. I promise you a good experience after a visit to any of these places.

ONE DAY IN MY CITY

For a day in my city, I will like to take you to the streets and markets. A person from Bamenda is generally known to be a "huzzler", someone who has to toil to earn a living. The streets because it is where you fully understand the lifestyle of its people. The streets have road side vendors, hookers, pickpockets, buyam sellers (retail vendors) and everyone can easily identify themselves in different aspects. Young to old, everyone has a place on the streets, no body is too small to huzzle which explains why young persons flood the streets every day from 6am to 8pm either selling clothes, food items, transporting and more.

The Food Market of Bamenda is where you get all food stuff you in Bamenda. Taking this tour with you for example will be on a Saturday to this market. This is a day where all households get out to refill stocks for the house either with food items or provisions. Interesting to see the number of persons either out to buy or sell, you could have a full day just watching the activities of some persons.

Mothers and children coming to buy from mothers and their children. The desire to sell and make enough for that day is the main target of the sellers who use all sort of sweet words to call customers some which either ask and go, buy or snub. Teenagers are ready to transport whatever a household takes for that day with wheelbarrows for easy transport to the road for home taking.

And after a day at the market like this, you could get a good dish to replenish the energy. Fried plantain and White Beans is on my menu for the weekend, what's yours?

The circle goes round for the whole day until everyone retires with their benefits or disappointments if the market was not favorable. This basically gives a clue of how these people live on a daily basis.
