ARCHITECTURAL PHOTOGRAPHY: Government House of Lima-Peru!
Happy day stemians.! this is my participation in the interesting ARCHITECTURAL PHOTOGRAPHY contest started by @ may2015.
This beautiful and old building belongs to the Government Palace of Peru, also called Government House or Casa de Pizarro and functions as the main seat of the executive power and official residence of the President of that country. It is located in the Plaza Mayor in the historic center of Lima, on the banks of the Rímac River. What is striking is the palace's façade as it has a French-inspired neo-baroque style, while the side façade, which overlooks Palacio Street and where the entrance door is, is neocolonial in style. This construction began in January 1535, at the same time that the Spanish conquerors founded the city of Lima. However, a second construction was carried out in 1926 due to a fire that destroyed the original design. Then the second construction ended in 1938. Its main attraction is that it has beautiful enclosures and ceremonial rooms, some of them, such as the Golden Room, were built on the basis of those existing in the Palace of Versailles in France. It also has a part that functions as the residence of the president and relatives.
