Contest : The book i am reading.
Hello everyone. Hope we are all doing well. the book I'm reading. It's a very nice contest and an inspirational one.
Currently I'm reading a book titled
Fundamentals of Medical Parasitology.
written by lecturer from University of development studies known as Dr. Captain-Esoah.
In the first place ,the book defined some terminologies used in the study of parasitology. Also, the book stated the characteristics of pasrasites, classification of parasites and parasites adaptations.
From the book, i also learnt about host. Types of host and host defence to parasite infection.
The book also selected some medical important parasites and discussed them into details.
With each parasite, the book spoke on its classification, habitat , morphology, lifecycle, mode of transmission,disease its cause, signs and symptoms ,treatment
Among the discussed parasites includes plasmodium parasite,
Trypanosoma, Schistosoma,Fasciola and paragonimus.

To talk of one parasite from the book, Trypanosoma parasite causes a disease known as Trypanosomiasis also known as sleeping sickness.with regards to their morphology, they are elongated, flattered unicellular cells with single nuclei located near center of the cell.
Trypanosoma are transmitted through tsetse fly to man and any other host.
Me reading the book
Trypanosomiasis can be treated with pentamidine and suramine.It can also be prevented by the removal of breeding places of the tsetse fly which serves as the vector.
The book gave more insight of the parasite than what i just talked about.
I will encourage each and everyone to get a copy of the book to help himself from falling a prey to some of this common parasites in our daily lives.
