💰Concurso: "El premio mayor más grande de mi vida"/ Contest: "The biggest prize of my life". [ESP-ENG].💰

Cuando me puse a reflexionar sobre el tema del concurso lo primero que me vino a la mente fueron mis hijos, mi mayor recompensa y premio de toda mi vida. Sin embargo me dije: ¡Detente Ellieth!, piensa un poco y contextualízate en el tema y me puse a revisar a lo largo de mi historia personal, primero pensé que todo lo que había logrado no había sido por fortuna o suerte, sino a base de establecimiento de metas y acciones, pero conseguí algo muy importante que puedo denominar el premio más grande de mi vida.

When I started to reflect on the theme of the contest, the first thing that came to my mind were my children, my greatest reward and prize of my life. However I said to myself: Stop Ellieth, think a little and contextualize the subject and I started to review my personal history, first I thought that everything I had achieved had not been by luck or luck, but based on setting goals and actions, but I got something very important that I can call the biggest prize of my life.

Tenía 19 años y llena de sueños y fantasías. Deseaba tener un carro, y tan sólo por bromear en casa, colocaba en sitios claves como en la puerta de la nevera papelitos, con el dibujo simple de tipo infantil de un carro. Le colocaba a mi papá hasta en el espejo del baño para que pudiera verlo.

I was 19 years old and full of dreams and fantasies. I wanted to have a car, and just for fun at home, I used to put little pieces of paper with a simple child-like drawing of a car in key places such as the refrigerator door. I would even put it on my dad's bathroom mirror so he could see it.

En nuestra familia de clase media asalariada, no se había visto a alguien que se le comprara un carro, se adquiría ya adultos luego de trabajar, de verdad yo lo que estaba era bromeando, no pensaba que fuera posible.

In our middle class salaried family, we had never seen anyone buy a car, it was acquired as adults after working, I was really joking, I did not think it was possible.

Un día salimos de paseo a un lugar turístico de una región vecina, como a 3 horas de casa, y al pasar por una concesionaria de vehículos mi papá se detuvo y me dijo que me iba a comprar un carro. Lo hizo ese mismo día, para mí fue muy sorprendente, él lo tenía planificado, luego supe que lo hizo con su fondo de ahorro. Lo que para él fue un esfuerzo y un deseo de complacer a su hija, para mí ha sido el “Premio más grande de mi vida”.

One day we went on a trip to a tourist place in a neighboring region, about 3 hours from home, and when we passed by a car dealership my dad stopped and told me he was going to buy me a car. He did it that same day, for me it was very surprising, he had it planned, later I learned that he did it with his savings fund. What for him was an effort and a desire to please his daughter, for me has been the "biggest prize of my life".

El auto era bello, plateado, y olía a muñeca, lo recuerdo fielmente, de eso hace 27 años. Mi vida cambió mucho para mejor; la universidad donde estudiaba quedaba muy lejos y los transportes sujetos a un horario que si te tocaba en un día sólo dos horas de clases, tenías que esperar hasta la tarde que llegara el autobús, porque era una zona donde no había transporte público y muy peligroso y largo el trecho para caminar. En la actualidad, la Universidad funciona en una zona céntrica, tuvieron que cambiarse de sitio, porque cada vez menos gente podía inscribirse, por las razones que menciono.

The car was beautiful, silver, and smelled like a doll, I remember it faithfully, that was 27 years ago. My life changed a lot for the better; the university where I studied was very far away and the transportation was subject to a schedule that if you had only two hours of classes a day, you had to wait until the afternoon for the bus to arrive, because it was an area where there was no public transportation and it was very dangerous and a long way to walk. Nowadays, the University is located in a central area, they had to move because less and less people could enroll, for the reasons I mentioned.

Ahora que repaso esta historia me recuerdo de lo que llaman el poder de la visualización, ese tipo de paradigmas no es mi fuerte, pero con lo de mi juego de los papelitos con dibujos de carro, me pregunto si tiene algo que ver ese fenómeno; algunos lo pueden llamar también visión u optimismo.

Now that I review this story I remember what they call the power of visualization, that type of paradigms is not my forte, but with my game of the little papers with drawings of cars, I wonder if it has something to do with that phenomenon; some may also call it vision or optimism.

Cuando uno menos lo piensa la vida le complace con premios que creías imposibles. Otra cosa muy importante para que un premio sea genial, es percibir la felicidad que demuestra quien te lo da y la felicidad que tienes de recibirlo, generosidad y gratitud, hermosas virtudes.

When you least expect it, life will please you with prizes that you thought were impossible. Another very important thing for a prize to be great, is to perceive the happiness that shows who gives it to you and the happiness you have to receive it, generosity and gratitude, beautiful virtues.

Me prometí que ese gran regalo que me dio papá sería causa para bien en mi vida y optimicé su uso estudiando con esmero, me gradué súper rápido, tres años después de recibir mi premio mayor.

I promised myself that this great gift that Dad gave me would be a cause for good in my life and I optimized its use by studying hard, I graduated super fast, three years after receiving my major award.
