Color Palette Contest Week #7 || The True Meaning Of Black

This is my entry to the new contest about Color Palette which is now on it's 7th week, initiated by @dmitrik.

The other day I saw a post in @Steem-BRU Community about a Color Palette competition initiated by @dmitrik and @olesia. I got interested of the said competition. Yesterday the 6th week of Color Palette competition has ended and today the 7th week is still ongoing and I got the chance to participate to this contest.

The next color to play is BLACK!

I'm not a fan of this color because when I hear the word “black.” My mind translated it as "scary things and demons." Black seems to always have a bad connotation as it's often associated with darkness or grim.

Yet, it's still a very popular color! (If you call it a color) In terms of psychology, choosing the color black is not a bad trait. I mean, think about it, black is often associated as sexy!

Why so many feelings associated with the color black? Maybe it’s because black goes with everything, and brings out the best—or worst—in whatever it surrounds.


Psychology says, People who love black color have the most colorful minds.


Why do people love the colour BLACK?


The colour black is believed to directly connect with the associations Strength and Power. So basically a reason for someone to wear black, or drive a black car could be a subconscious desire to feel powerful and gain more strength. The main personality trait of those who choose black as their color tends to enjoy prestige and power as well. These people are often artistic and sensitive. But very independent and strong-willed individuals that like to be in control of themselves and their surroundings.


Black is also associated with style. Black suits are often worn by business men and women, a black suit implies seriousness and professionalism. Black is a very versatile color that is very suitable for many situations, such as in business, weddings and in our social and personal life. It is often associated with strength, wealth, elegance, intelligence, seriousness, negativity, evil, the unknown, formality, death and power.

Black is the perfect example of how color meaning can differ from one culture to another.

People's preference for certain colors is based on a whole host of factors, including environment, personality, experience, and upbringing. Pay attention to how the color black makes you feel and consider how some of these factors may shape how you feel and respond to this color.

Not all of these reasons will apply to everyone; however one or two of them is likely to be a reason for the love of the colour black.
