One day in my town - Bengaluru, India

Hello everyone!

Here I am again to share another spot in my city where you would love to spend some time in. Bengaluru, India is located towards the southern part of the country in the state of Karnataka. Bengaluru has great connectivity to the rest of the country and the world and is quite easy to get to from any part of the world too. Here agin, if you're coming to my city for a day I will reccomend spending time at Nandi Hills.

In my previous posts I have detailed 02 other popular spots of Bangalore. Now I will give you a glimpse of another popular spot in the city which frequented by many. Nandi Hills - a picturesque spot to take in breath taking views of the city down below. While it's most popular for the scenic views and slow climb up from the city which makes the drive heavenly, other attractions are the fort, various temples which are some of the oldest in the area and many historical buildings. There are also many activities that you could spend time on such as trekking trails, cycling routes and few adventure sports as well. However, for this post I will stick to the Nandi Hill top view point and its stunning views of the city below.

The spot is open for public viewing from 06:00 AM onwards upto 06:00 PM. On weekends you will find many people already outside the gates before 6:00 AM to catch a glimpse of the sunrise over the cityscape. It does make it ideal for some stunning photography. We also decided to go on a weekend and reached the spot around 07:30 AM in the morning. It is roughly around a 02 hour drive form the city, the last 30 minutes being the climb uphill on mountain twisties. This does attract many bikers from around the city to frequent the place just for the drive which is scenic and not to difficult for a skilled rider/driver. However, amateurs may find it slightly difficult and after a couple of turns will get used to it.

Once you reach the place, you will need to further climb uphill for another 30 minutes or so on foot to reach the highest point from where you get breath taking views of the city. The area is like a park with many tress and scenic greenery around to take in while you leisurely stroll to the top. There are also many food stalls from where you can grab a bite or a cold drink on the way, which makes the trip all the more enjoyable.

As you reach the top you can definitely feel the cool breeze and if you're lucky a slight cloud formation giving you the feeling of walking among the clouds. It truly is remarkable. From the many viewpoints at the top you can see the entire view of the city beneath you. This is a great spot to catch the morning sun rise over the city below. We however, didn't make it on time for the sunrise but the views were still stunning.

While we were there it felt like the sun and us were playing hide & seek because of the cloud cover above us. This made it a very pleasant experience as it was not too hot even though the sun was shining brightly that day. This can take around 06 Hrs to complete if you're just going to the top of the hill to soak in the views. However, if you have more time, I would recommend spending the entire day here, after you catch the sun rise in the morning, there are many temples and other historical buildings around for you to check out and spend time in. There is also an old British styled railway station and a small village where they show you different crops and vegetables that they are cultivating culminating in a grand meal made with their own produce. There are many adventure tour companies who organise these tours and can facilitate this whole experience if anyone is interested.
