The traveler sees what he sees, the tourist sees what he has come to see, it's TOURISM!

Share two popular tourist spots in your country and the reason why they are so popular?

The two popular tourist spots in my country are Port Harcourt Tourist Beach and Arochukwu Cave

Port Harcourt Tourist Beach is the most popular beach in Rivers State, South-Southern Nigeria. Port Harcourt is the largest and the capital of Rivers State. There are many place one could visit for tourism in this city and that includes the beaches.

Among the beaches in this city is the most popular beach, Port Harcourt tourist beach which is one of the oldest attraction sites in the state. It is a manmade beach that was commissioned in the year 1988 for recreation and relaxation.

One advantage it has over others is it's location which is on the edge of the city, such that visitors can take a walk through the hiking trails. The designer of the beach, set aside a serene environment for tourist and visitors can enjoy the white sands and waves.

The tourist beach has played a big host to visitors from all part of the world who visited especially during the annual cultural fiesta of the state popularly known as CARNIRIV, to watch the glamorous boat regatta organised by the Rivers State Tourism Development Agency (RSTDA).

Tourist beach attract a huge number of visitors every year and so the government of the state has worked so hard to preserve the environment and keep it cool. It's peaceful atmosphere is always perfect for visitors to relax and play games and enjoy the cozy breeze. Within the beach is a museum and a tour guide.

The Arochukwu Cave is located in Arochukwu in Abia State. It is a cave that the long juju oracle once used. There was a believe that in this cave contain the long metal pipes that the oracles used to communicate with the humans. Of course you know caves are dark and this one is not an exception.

In the cave is located the destiny gate known as the gate of no return. There are six foot gully that leads to the cave which is generally known as the long juju slave route. Those who were judged guilty by the oracle, were sent into the cave and they were required to remove their wears at the entrance of the cave which is known as the hill of rags.

The people that entered the caves were never seen again and it is believed that the gods or juju would turn the river red to show the death of those guilty. It has become so popular because of it's mighty stories and ancient where tourist and visitors visit.

Do foreign tourists visit these spots? What special facilities are there for them?

I would talk about the Arochukwu cave, of course foreign tourists visit these spots. The area around the shrine and the cult includes a sacred altar, a six-foot gully that takes people to the temple, and a waterfall. It has been called the Long Juju Slave Route of Arochukwu.

Apart from being just a cave, Arochukwu also boast historical tourist sites most notably the shrine or oracle known as Ibinu Ukpabi, or the Long Juju. What makes this shrine stand out among the other historical sites in the region is the role it played in the slave trade era and thus the impact it made in Nigeria’s history.

The shrine is about a kilometer long and existed from the 17th century. The shrine was administered by a group of cultists, who were led by a chief priest. They ran an economic and socio-political ring that effectively controlled the region east of the Niger River, and as such had an effect on many people even before the arrival of colonialism.

In there, you can still find some old sculptures that depict the gods, the juju and the sacred alter. These foreigners comes to either buy or take pictures of them.

What kind of improvement do you think is needed to increase the visibility of foreign tourists there?

1715688611744.jpgThe entrepreneurship and economic development.

Rural tourism entrepreneurship is a tourist industry which revolutionizes businesses and economic development across the globe. It encompasses a large range activities, natural or man-made attractions (sculptures), amenities and facilities, transportation, marketing and information systems.

The rural areas of Nigeria possess some distinctive peculiarities which can be transformed into attractive tourist centers. In spite of all these, rural tourism areas are still faced with large economic problems which include poor finance, inadequate awareness and education, insecurity, entrepreneurial interests, over-dependent on oil and others.

Nigeria Government should encourage rural based tourism entrepreneurship development by addressing the challenges facing rural tourism in the country.

Do you know any spot that is not yet known to everyone but has the potential to become a popular tourist destination in the future?

Currently, I don't know of any. I have not really toured the cave round but I'm sure there is a place in there that is yet to be uncovered.

The few places I have been, I was led to the place but I believe more place would discovered because this cave, tourists frequent it and visitors won't rest till they find something spectacular.

Greetings @ninapenda

It's great to know about the two popular tourist spot in Nigeria. It seems you're living around Port Harcourt city, I've been at port for 2 years with my friends but I've never visited those amazing places. I never knew Port Harcourt Tourist Beach and Arochukwu Cave reside in this country.
Do you know the one I would love to break my bank and visit? It's the Arochukwu cave.

I've been watching how people go through the cave with a lantern in search for valuables. So i would like to bring that scenario to reality by walking through the cave. You have a good post here nina. Goodluck wishes 💌

Gettings dear friend.
In two places I found strange types and very beautiful and entertaining. The first one is the beach which we all love and can indulge ourselves in entertainment to the fullest. which he presented to us in a corner of southern Nigeria. And the facility management here is very nice as I got to know from your post. I also got to know about the second place Which is a bit of a strange type, which was a place of recreation and relaxation for people in ancient times. Good to know that your post will be useful for me in the future. stay well

Thank you so much Sir for your lovely comments!

Semoga sukses teman 👍

Thank you so much Sir. I appreciate your comment

A place that is undoubtedly unique for friendly tourists such as the beaches where they have a great time and enjoy themselves to the fullest on the Port Harcourt tourist beach located on the outskirts of the city where tourists can enjoy every space.

Another place where tourists can go is to the Arochukwu cave since there are many stories about the tubes with which they used to communicate, they have a six-foot entrance that leads directly to the cave.

Tourists usually see these places to enjoy and keep beautiful memories of them.

Saludos

Thank you so much Sir!
