"Seasons come and go, but the memories of each season stay with us forever."

How many seasons in your country? Which one is your favorite and why?

We have just two seasons in my country, the dry season (Harmattan season) and rainy season.

The dry season which is formally known as the harmattan season in Nigeria is the most pleasant of all seasons( from November to March). At this time is still very hot, even at night. But the humidity is less compared to the rest of the year. The morning sky is often covered with a fog that may last for hours before it goes off.

In the Northern part of Nigeria, the weather becomes more dry and in the center of the country the days are sunnier, and the nights are colder. The rainy season in Nigeria lasts for seven months (from the end of March to the end of October). This is a period of thick rainfall, although there are places where the rain falls lightly than others.

Calabar City is the peak of the rainy season, it falls so heavily until December before it stops. But the Northern part of Nigeria at this time experienced just 4 months of rainfall. However, we usually have what we call "August break" where the rainfall stops for 3 weeks to allow people to go about their business.

I prefer the dry season where I have so much leverage to move about my business. During the rainy season, people are being obstructed by the rain to do certain things like; going to work, church, doing laundry, having recreational activities, etc. The rainy season is a period when people are being chased out of their homes by flood, cars are damaged by drainage and

But the dry season allows you to feel hot, get all your activities done at the right time, hang out, and return when you want. I prefer the dry season.

If there was one season you wanted to skip forever, which one would it be? Explain the reason.

I would have loved to skip the rainy season if it were within my power. The rainy season in my country causes chaos in different parts of the country. It is always terrible when the roads are bad and we are in the rainy season, this leaves people to walk in dirty water while going to work, church, or school.

Imagine taking your bath in the morning, dressed, and looking all good for work to see yourself walking in dirty water, it's crazy.

Rainy season causes a flood that destroys people's lives and properties. I have been in such a scenario where during the rainy season my properties were rendered useless due to daily rain-caused flooding around the neighborhood. This season puts people in high blood pressure, some people run out of their homes until the season is over.

Only if I had my way, there wouldn't be a rainy season but thinking of it, without this season, we wouldn't have food crops to feed on, but still, I would take it away.

Describe a traditional or special activity that people in your country do during a particular season.

During the dry season, people in my country celebrate the new yam festivals. This usually takes place towards the end of the rainy season of every year. As we all know, the rainy season is the planting season in my country and the dry season is the harvesting season.

The new yam festival is a period during the dry season when the new yam is harvested and everyone gathers to eat that first yam to open up the way for others to enjoy the yam.

This festival is done with the kings and chiefs of a particular tribe in my country. They gather around and pray as they roast the yam or cook the yam to their taste. After the prayers, the kings and chiefs have a taste of the yam first before others can have it.

Are there any special foods or drinks that people in your country enjoy most during certain seasons? If so, what is it and why?

There are so many foods and drinks enjoyed in my country during the rainy season because everywhere becomes cold at this time, everyone wants something to warm their body.

We enjoy corn with pear, pepper soup, boiled groundnut, akara (bean cake), and bread. These meals help us stay safe from cold during this season.

The corn can either be roasted or boiled, it all depends on your choice. I usually love boiled corn with pear, it helps me a lot to keep warm. In my country, during this season, people harvest corn and come by the roadside to sell it when everywhere is cold and frozen.

I like the dry season where I have many advantages to go about my business.

The dry season, or Harmattan season, in Nigeria brings relief from humidity, allowing for easier movement and activities. While the rainy season brings its challenges, the dry season offers freedom and flexibility.

The new yam festival sounds like a beautiful celebration of harvest and community. During the rainy season, warming foods like corn with pear, pepper soup, and akara are cherished for their ability to combat the cold weather and provide comfort.

@ninapenda

I am very glad to know that you have expressed your opinion about the seasons that your country also has two seasons dry season and rainy season but you enjoy both the seasons you do not leave anyone behind in the dry season. Our normal activities are done very well and in the stay season we also enjoy and eat different types of hot food according to our taste which are famous dishes of our country. I also mentioned about your traditional fair and festival, so I am very happy to know that you are also a part of it and enjoy it too.

Saludos y bendiciones.

Seasons may come and go, but the memories and experiences associated with each season stay with us forever, shaping our preferences and routines based on the unique characteristics of each season in our country.

I can see why you choose dry season over Rainy season. During the rainy season you're being obstructed by the rain to do certain things like; going to work, church, doing laundry, having recreational activities, but in the dry season, you have all the weather and time to move around and come back anytime without the obstruction of the rain. Corn, coconut and pear is the best combination during the rainy season because this warms our body preventing cold from entering our system. In addition to that, it's always yummy, I'm craving for it right now.
