SEC-S15W1: The Wonder of Science

The word science is known by many, if not all, all over the world. Infact to many, any thing which is said to have been scientifically proven, is regarded as truth.

Science crept into our lives and have come to stay in our lives. Almost everything we use today have an aspect of science in it. It is part of our lives and none can be separated from each other.

It is even said that apart from the Almighty, the next set of people that humans look upto are the scientists. Their inventions have made life much easier.

This contest entitled The Wonder of Science will guide us, as we explain more on this topic.

Science has helped build a great civilization. - What is your opinion on the matter?

There is no doubt that science have been a great asset in building civilization. In Egypt, we saw how science helped them in amazing structures that are been revered till today in the world. One of these great structures is the Pyramid.

We also have the amazing civil engineering skills of the Romans in building the Paved roads. Which is led to the tarred road we are using today. Some of those amazing science engineered roads that were constructed back then are still in use today in Italy and some other places they colonized. This construction led to great civilization and it has led to faster communication, easy transportation and helped established routes for purchase and sales of goods and services (commerce).

Even today, it has helped a lot in bringing about civilization to our doorsteps.

As a matter of fact, science assisted a lot in building civilization.

Take my own hometown for instance, there is no entrance and exit route that doesn't cross a river. There was a time our bridge collapsed. The villagers suffered a lot as a result. They constructed a baboo made bridge but only those on foot could walk through it. This caused a lot of hardships for the villager as they had to pay huge amounts to cross their goods and building materials to the village.

The lives of so many were also lost as a result of the delicate nature of the locally made bridge.

Not until the then rulling government's attention were drawn to the situation of the village that they awarded the bridge. And guess what? We now have a wonderful bride that makes vehicles, trucks and individuals to access the village with ease.

How do you think our lives would be if there was no science?

The story I just shared above concerning my village explains the situation man would have been without science. Live would have been miserable.

The truth is that science have always been there right from the creation of man.

Remember that without being scientific, man would not have known how to design and mode implements used for cultivating the land. How those tools could be used on an animal to make cultivating land very easy.

Remember too that it was a scientific discovery when man brought about fire. True that non of us can say for sure how they did it.

So whatever science discovery we have today is an evolution of what have been there, they just build on it.

So if there was no science life would have been meaningless and we would continue in our darkness till we die.

If you could ask a famous scientist one question, who would it be, and what would you ask?

If I have the privilege of meeting a scientist, the person that I would like to meet is Benjamin Franklin. The person who discovered electricity.

The questions that I would like to ask him are:-

1. What did he know bout electricity before he discovered it?

2. What was the reason that motivated him to discover it?

3. How did he know the materials that can be used to conduct electricity?

4. How did he feel when he felt the shock of the electric current.

5. How did he know that electricity passes through lightening?

👉The discovery of electricity and how it can be harnessed from natural sources by Benjamin Franklin is really amazing and have been very helpful in our lives. His work and that of other scientist who on the field of electricity have brought additional joy to human. Almost everything we make use of today is powered by electricity.

👉Telephone and Mobile phone discovery is another scientific discovery that have made life easier for people. Before now, we communicated majorly through oral means and later, through letter writing, which takes about 4 days to 2 months before it reaches its intended recipients. But today, we can reach and communicate with another people at the other side of the world easily.

👉Internet discovery is another scientific milestone that have made life easier. The Internet makes the world to look like a global village, on it are built various things that spans from health to technology which improves people's lives too. Not to be forgotten is that even the steemit we are using now was made possible because of the Internet.

Conclusion

Science have played a lot of role in building civilization and it will continue to do so. Granted, as it is helping to build civilization, it has brought about certain woes too on the human populace.

However, it's positive benefits seems to far outweigh the challenges that come with it.
