"My Entry; Victim Of Discrimination".
A warm greeting to all steemian of this great community. Hope you are all doing well. I am @mbetobongluke from Nigeria and I'm super excited to participate in this contest hosted by @solaymann. My regards to him.
Let me share with you what discrimination is all about and how I was discriminated.
First, I see discrimination as someone who is given unjust treatment. Sometime it could be different category of people, especially when it comes to ethnicity, sex, age and even people with disability.
Yes, I have been discriminated against before by my uncle's wife. It was a terrible experience. This topic just brings back tears from my eyes. I used to live with my uncle after I finished my primary school level i.e common entrance. By then, I didn't have access to phone. That was 2006. My purpose of being with my uncle was to continue my secondary school level over there. So I can have a change of environment. My parents hardly communicate with me because i was not with phone. Each time my parents called them, the will say i'm okay. When my father want to here from me, because I was in their presence I will not be able to express myself. As a little boy then, I keep crying to my uncle and my uncles wife that I want to go back to my parents. Instead, they keep paying a deaf hear. In my first 2 months, he treated me nice together with his wife . After then, I started facing my hell here on earth, he always seized every opportunity he had, he treated my like a slave not just a maid but a slave. How I wish they were paying me salary, it would have been a different case. Imagine me doing everything in the house except providing money. After every daily routine, I end up eating once a day. Sometimes, I hide to eat.I became the cleaner, the cook, the nanny to his children, the errand boy, the gatekeeper etc. I end up not furthering my school again because of his children. I will be the one taking them to school, and carrying them back home. But still, none of them looked at me twice or think about my future. As if it wasn't enough, my uncle's wife hated me claiming that I wasn't cleaned enough to be in her house, I had to wash up like 4 times a day, I was so pushed one day to talk back at them because the suffering was too much. Each time I remember how I was being discriminated, tears drop on my eye. It was a terrible experience for good two years before my parents realized what I was passing through in the hands of both my uncle and my uncles wife.
It's a fantastic question. Through my experiences as someone who was once discriminated. I will suggest that ;
• they should be educational awareness: these will help enlightened parents the need to give birth to children they can be able to cater for.
• The should also be Inclusive Policies: this has to do with the government promoting equality and inclusivity.
• Open Communication: this is by way of encouraging open dialogue, active listening, as well as respectful feedback. This has to do with empathy and Understanding. That is, Cultivate empathy and try to see things from others' perspectives.
• I also suggest that government at all levels should hold individuals and also institutions accountable for discriminatory actions. This will put fear on those promoting discrimination.
All these require effort, commitment, and collective action.
Though the following suggestions of mine, might not automatically eradicate discrimination, but at least, it will drastically reduce the level of discrimination among us in the societies.
"People for People" is simply another words or phrase that suggests a sense of community, mutual support, as well as collective well-being. This has to do with individuals looking out for one another, working together, and prioritizing the needs of others.
This phrase "People for People" encouragement that we should always focus on the well-being of others, by building strong relationships, and also create a supportive community. By taking action to make a positive impact in the lives of those living around us.
Give some advice to the discriminators. |

Here is some advice I can contribute to discriminators:
• If you are struggling to overcome biases, you should try and seek support or guidance from an expert or even support group.
• Empathize; this has to do with all everyone.we should try to understand the harm caused by our actions and put ourselves in others' people's shoes and also, If you've caused harm, offer a genuine apology and make amends.
• Try and educate yourself by learning different cultures, identities, and experiences to break down stereotypes.i think this will help.
• Let's Treat others with kindness by monitoring our thoughts, words, and actions to ensure we' re not perpetuating harm.
• Lastly, let's remember, everyone deserves respect regardless of differences, every individual deserves dignity and kindness.
I will love the following friends to participate in this contest,
