Steemian Friends,
Today, I will participate in Steem For Bangladesh Community Engagement Challenge Session 17 Week 03. A very nice topic is organized to write about the national festival. The subject is called SEC-S17W3: "National Festival". I hope everyone will like writing about my country's national festival.

What is the national festival of your country? How did it start

Our country has a few national festivals. The most popular national festival for me is Pahela Baishakh or Bengali Happy New Year. Our country has an English and Bengali calendar. Bengali has twelve months, as well as English twelve months. We celebrate the first day of the first month of Bengali twelve months as Bengali Happy New Year. The day is very happy for Bengali speakers.

In ancient times, our country was ruled by kings. During the reign of Emperor Akbar, special arrangements were made on the last day of the year to collect VAT and taxes from the subjects. Then, on the first day of the year, a new account book was opened. Everyone was given sweets that day. Since then, the first day of the Bengali calendar has been updated and is now known as Bangla Happy New Year.

How is this festival celebrated? Are there any special rules for celebrating it?

The first day of the Bengali year is celebrated in several ways. The young community wears new clothes and comes to Ramna Batmool in the capital, Dhaka, to rejoice. We village people organize a fair in the village on this day. When I was a child, I used to go to Bangla New Year fairs and buy toys. When I was young, I went to most of the fairs and bought kites.

On Bengali New Year, business people keep accounts in new accounts. After completing the accounts of the previous year, the dues are calculated and collected from the customers in various ways. Customers are invited and served sweets. Boys are happy with Punjabi painted with Bengali characters and girls with flowers in saree hair.

Are there any special outfits or foods for celebrating your national festival?

In our country, hilsa fish and panta rice are organized on the day of Bengali New Year. What we call panta-hilsa food. On this day, the price of hilsa fish increases a lot. Anand processions are held for the New Year wearing different t-shirts and Punjabi with Bengali letters. Young children are fashionable with New Year's stickers. In the village, we enjoy flying kites in various designs.

Tell us about your favorite memory from celebrating your national festival.

As a child, I used to go to fairs and buy toys and kites during my national festival, Bengali New Year. Flying a kite was the greatest joy for me. Different-colored kites were flown all around, and if the string of the kite was cut, the kite would fly far. I used to run far after the kite that cut the thread. Kites were seen flying all over the sky. Flying kites was the most enjoyable thing for me during the Bengali New Year.

Dear @mahadisalim,,,Greetings to this contest,,
Pahela Baishakh is not only a festival of our Bengali nation but also a reminder of our history and tradition. Every year on the first day of the month of Baishakh this event is celebrated all over the country. On this day boys in Punjabi and pajama and girls in yellow sarees appear at Ramna Battala. Big festivals and fairs are organized. Besides, Mars processions are also organized.

On Pahela Baisakh, shopkeepers organize a Halkhatar ceremony to collect their dues. Customers are welcomed with sweets.

Kite flying festival was also very popular once. However, in the course of time, the organization of this fair is not seen much.

Thank you very much for sharing such a beautiful post about Pahela Boishakh with us.

•Best regards,,

That sounds like such a wonderful tradition! Flying kites must have been so much fun, especially with all the colorful kites filling the sky. It's great that you have such fond memories of celebrating Bengali New Year. Do you still get a chance to fly kites during the festival?

Greetings dear, @mahadisalim
Pahela Boishakh is one of the national festivals of Bangladesh. Boishakh is the festival of our Bengali life. The festival of Bengali life begins on the first day of Boishakh at the root of Ramna. You have presented our national festival beautifully. Like you I too was weak towards this kite as a child. I enjoyed flying this kite. Good luck to you.

¡Holaaa amigo!🤗
