Steemian Friends,
Today, I will write my Electrical Learning Part-14 and Week 14. Today, I will show the DC power generation process. I will discuss how sunlight is converted into electricity. I hope everyone will like my writing.

I have shown some solar power generation systems in my previous electrical learning parts. I have a 20-watt solar panel. When I put the panel in sunlight the sunlight shines on the panel. A panel consists of cells arranged in rows and columns. The name of these cells is the Photovoltaic Cell. Photovoltaic cell was first discovered by Russian scientist Alexander Stoltov in 1888. Later due to the modernity of science, it has been further developed.

Photovoltaic cell:
A photovoltaic cell converts sunlight or light energy into electricity. After sunlight shines on this cell, it is transformed into electrons, the components of electricity. The more Photovoltaic cells are used, the more electricity is produced. We store the converted electricity in the battery. Again we use the converted electricity directly during the day.

Power is stored according to the capacity of the battery. If we increase the size of the panel, the number of photovoltaic cells increases. Then the amount of electricity also increases. If the capacity of the battery is more then the electricity can be stored more. If the electricity battery is stored more, it can be used for more time at night.

Some of the disadvantages of photovoltaic cells are that if a cell is hit or the bird poop stops working, the entire panel stops working. But, nowadays modern solar system is used. Solar panels are installed in series and parallel. Placing the panels in parallel increases the power by keeping the voltage constant. Placing panels in series increases the voltage. Placing panels in series and parallel has some advantages and disadvantages which I will discuss in the next electrical learning parts.

Solar panels are installed mainly in series and parallel based on the power generation capacity. Photovoltaic cells are made of semiconductor devices. Photovoltaic cells are mostly made of silicon. However, some other materials are polycrystalline thin films and cadmium telluride. But all are semiconductor devices.
