Today I will write Electrical Learning Part 08, Week 08 on Steem For Bangladesh Community. Today, I will write about motor connections in the industry. I hope everyone will like and benefit from my writing.

We see the use of motors almost everywhere in our daily lives. Various types of motors are used for raising water in homes, cars, and large factories. Motors are generally of two types.
- AC motor
- DC Motor
AC Motor:
An AC motor is a motor driven by AC electricity in homes or factories. Most of what we see are AC motors.
DC motor:
DC motor is the motor that uses DC electricity to run the motor. Such as battery-powered charging fans.
There are two types of AC motors:
- Synchronous motor
- Asynchronous motor.
Most of the AC motors we see are asynchronous motors. Asynchronous motors are of two types.
- Single-phase asynchronous motor
- Three-phase asynchronous motor.
Three-phase induction/asynchronous motor.
We generally use single-phase and three-phase motors. A single-phase motor is a motor powered by 220-volt electricity. On the other hand, a motor powered by 415-volt electricity is a three-phase motor. Today, I will write about three-phase motor connections.
A three-phase motor has three types of connections.
- DOL (Direct On Line)
- Star-Delta Connection
- Forward-Reverse Connection.
Today, I will write in detail about forward - reverse connection of three phase motor. Forward - reverse connection is made to rotate the motor in both directions. Suppose an object is moved forward by a motor for some reason it needs to be taken back then the connection given to the motor is forward - reverse connection. Below I have shown forward - reverse connection diagram.
Motor Forward-Reverse Power Circuit Diagram
Required Materials:
- Magnetic Contact - 2 pcs
- MCCB - 1 pcs
- Overload (O/L) - 1 pcs
- Connector - 1 pcs
- Necessary Cable
Practical Forward-Reverse Connection
A forward-reverse motor power circuit is shown in the figure. First, the three-phase lines red, yellow, and blue come to a circuit breaker called line 1, line 2, and line 3. Then, from the circuit breaker output, line 1, line 2, and line 3 are joined to the input of magnetic contact 1. Then, from the input of MC-01, line 1, line 2, and line 3 are connected to the input of magnetic contact 02. Then, I connected line 1, line 2, and line 3 from the output of MC-02 to the output terminals of MC-01. Then, I joined line 1, line 2, and line 3 from the output of MC-01 to the connector box of the motor. Anyone can make forward-reverse connections by looking at the above circuit.
For all to know, whenever you see an object being moved forward and backward by a motor motor, you know it is done through a forward-reverse connection.
