What is the national festival of your country? How did it start.

In Nigeria, 1st October every year marks the celebration of our national festival which is also our Independence Day; Nigeria became independent from the British Colony in 1960.

To get to where my country is today, there were many Nigerian nationalists who agitated for self-rule and independence during those years of struggle and negotiations; this was how Nigeria finally got its independence on 1st October, 1960. Since then, it has been celebrated as a national festival therefore this event is a very important day in Nigeria to celebrate their Independence Day hence it is marked with parades, cultural displays among others.

How is this festival celebrated? Are there any special rules for celebrating it?

In my country Nigeria, the chief national festival is Independence Day, which is marked on the first day of October each year in memory of how my country achieved its self-governance from Great Britain in 1960.

The ceremony also involves parades like i said earlier cultural demonstrations, fireworks and so many more activities that take place across the nation. Nevertheless, there are no hard and fast rules about celebrating independence day in Nigeria even though certain customs also exist as well as traditions people follow such as wearing traditional clothes, decorating residences and public areas with national colors – green and white- participating in community get-togethers and reminiscing over the past of the country and its progress.

Furthermore Independence Day in Nigeria is also a time for Nigerians to come together to celebrate their heritage, unity, and national pride and It is a day filled with joyfulness, patriotism, and reflection on the path that the country has taken towards freedom and progress.

Are there any special outfits or food for celebrating your national festival?

During the celebration of our national festival everyone do cook different types of food and through out that the all you will be seeing is the color green and white and the green color signify agriculture while the white signifys unity and peace 🕊️.

Tell us about your favorite memory from celebrating your national festival.

My favorite memory about celebrating my national festival was in the year 2020 it was really the best celebration 🎉 that I ever experienced that was when I was still in secondary school but about to graduate so on that day 1st October 2020.

I was among the students who participated in the match past competition because on that day difference skills, competition will be presented and the governor of the state will be present so my school for the first time took first position in the competition and all of us where rewarded by the governor of the state and I must say that was my favorite memory.

Thanks for reading my post I'm inviting @morgan76 @rad-austine and @okere-blessing to participate in this contest have a wonderful day.

Great to read your post bro and very informative your post the way you have expressed about the festival in your country how you celebrate your independence day. And how do you share your happiness in it? Indeed, this is a day that we have got with the hard work and dedication of our elders. We owe this day to them. So whatever we can thank them for is less but the way you have expressed it is really admirable and the way the parade is organized on this day is really a beautiful sight of Independence. On the day we celebrate our expression and our patriotism in a different way which we cannot do for any other festival.

Dear @entity01,,Greetings to this contest,,

The cruel black chapter of subjugation is a curse in the lives of all people. Therefore, many brave people come forward for the country to free their country or nation from the net of brutality. Those who endure hundreds of tortures are persistent in their goals, because of this, the country and the citizens of the country break the chains of subjugation and gain the long-awaited great freedom.

Every independent country observes various programs in commemoration of independence day and those who fought against exploitative groups for freedom where people from every stratum of the country complete the day with spontaneous participation.
Thank you so much for sharing such a beautiful post about the independence of your country Nigeria. And, advance greetings and best wishes for the 64th Independence Day from my side. Stay well.

•Best Regards

@entity01, your entry is interesting, green white green that is the colour of your flag and these colors signifies agriculture and peace. And 1st October is your country's independence day where it is usually celebrated all over the country especially in schools. Students would go to the stadium and carry out a match pass competition at the end winners would emerge, then the state governor would present each school with a prize. And these also are application in other states of the country. And that day would be declared public holiday just to celebrate the freedom.
