So guys, today I am going to share some information about "History Of My Country".
My mother land is Sri Lanka.
I am really proud to say that I am a Sri Lankan. I live in the beautiful city of Negombo, located in Gampaha District, Western Province, Sri Lanka. So we all live in freedom today. It is because of the national heroes who sacrificed their lives for our freedom. So our Independence day is February 04, 1948. So even today we celebrate that day very happily with great patriotism.
Sri Lanka, a tropical island country located in the Indian Ocean in South Asia, has a recorded history of over two millennia. A multi-ethnic, multi-religious country with a cultural heritage enriched by the influence of Buddhism, Sri Lanka is a place rich in natural beauty due to its lack of change.
Known as the Pearl of the Indian Ocean, the island of Sri Lanka has been known as Serendib, Thaprobane and Ceylon at various times during its long history.
When talking about the history of Sri Lanka, the need for a national flag was discussed before the independence of Sri Lanka on February 4, 1948. Batticaloa Member of Parliament A. Mr. Siddilebbe presented a resolution in the State Council on 16 January 1948 suggesting that the lion flag of King Sri Vikrama Rajasingha, which was taken to Britain in 1815, should be made the national flag. This was debated and then Prime Minister Hon. D. S. Mr. Senanayake, S. W. R. D. Bandaranaike (Chairman), Sir John Kotalawala, JR. Jayawardena, T. B. Jaya, Dr. L.A. Rajapaksa, G.G. Ponnambalam and Senator S. An advisory committee consisting of Messrs. Nadeesan was appointed.
A committee was appointed to design a national flag on February 4, 1948, when the first Independence Day was celebrated, but no final conclusion was reached. However, the lion flag was raised that day. At the opening of the first Parliament of independent Sri Lanka (then Ceylon) on 19 February 1948, the Lion Flag and the British Union Flag were raised. On February 12, 1948, Prime Minister D.S. Mr. Senanayake hoisted the lion flag at Patthirippuwa.
The National Flag recommended by the Special Committee was adopted on March 2, 1951 by D. S. Presented to Parliament by Mr. Senanayake. There were two stripes, green representing Muslims and orange representing Dravidians. Each of these lines was to be equal to one-seventh the size of the flag.
When Sri Lanka first became a republic in 1972, the traditional bo leaf depicted on the national flag was changed to resemble the natural bo leaf. This revised flag was hoisted for the first time during the Republic Day celebrations on 22 May 1972. The National Flag was included in Section 6 of Part Two of the Constitution of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka on 09 September 1978.
Apart from the new bow leaf, the current flag is the same as that recommended by the National Flag Design Committee on March 2, 1951.
The British emblem was used during Sri Lanka's colonial days and continued to be used after independence in 1948. According to the recommendations of a selection committee appointed to design a national emblem most suitable for Sri Lanka, they chose a new national emblem. It had a sword-wielding lion on the right forepaw with a 'palapethi' design above it. Below, there was a column showing the name of the country in Sinhala, Tamil and English.
A new republic emblem was chosen after it was declared a republic on 22 May 1972. Apart from the lion with a sword and the 'palapethi' design, it depicts the Punkalasa, the Dhamma Chakra, the Sun, the Moon and two grains of paddy.
Actually, Sri Lanka is one of the most beautiful islands. This island was also known as "the island with a thousand names". This is a South Asian island. It is located in the Indian Ocean, southwest of the Bay of Bengal and southeast of the Arabian Sea; It is separated from the Indian subcontinent by the Gulf of Mannar and the Strait of Pok. Sri Lanka's location on major sea routes has made it a strategic maritime link between West Asia and Southeast Asia since ancient times. The Republic of India and the Republic of Sri Lanka signed an agreement on 23 March 1976 establishing the maritime boundaries of the Bay of Manar and the Bay of Bengal. The closest countries to Sri Lanka are India and Maldives.
In addition, if we talk about the culture of Sri Lanka, the culture of Sri Lanka has been primarily influenced by Buddhism and Hinduism. Sri Lanka is home to three major traditional cultures: Sinhalese, Muslims and Tamil. Since then, the Tamils have coexisted with the Muslims people and Sinhalese, and the early intermingling made the three ethnic groups almost physically indistinguishable.Ancient Sri Lanka is marked for genius in hydraulic engineering and architecture. The British colonial culture has also influenced the local people. The rich cultural traditions shared by all Sri Lankan cultures are the basis of the country's long life expectancy, high health standards and high literacy rate.
Sri Lankans celebrate Buddhist and Hindu New Year festivals in April. The Esala Perahera is a symbolic Buddhist festival held in Kandy in July and August, featuring dancing and beautiful elephants. Fire dances, whip dances, upland dances and various cultural dances are integral parts of the festival. Christians celebrate Christmas on December 25 to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ and Easter to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus. Tamils celebrate Thaipongal and Maha Shivaratri while Muslims people celebrate Hajji and Ramadan
Sri Lanka is really a very beautiful paradise. So I am very proud to be born in such a country. There are many things to say. But there are many things that cannot be finished. Tell me about my country. Actually, the information I have told about the history of Sri Lanka was in history subject when I went to school,Things learned while learning. So I must say that a country becomes beautiful according to the thoughts and wishes of the people who live there. So let's be very friendly and cooperative with everyone. Let's respect others. Then every country will automatically become beautiful.
