Write a few words about where you live and your country.
I live in Akwanga local Government under Nasarawa State and Nigeria as a country. Akwanga is a town dominated by the Mada tribe and a few of the Eggon tribe who are indigenes. Even though we have people of different tribes, cultures and religions living in the town. The people of Akwanga are known for farming Groundnut, Maize, Guinea corn and Yam. The town is known to be a peaceful town.

There are several institutions like Colleges of Education, Polytechnic, Banks, Churches, mosques etc. There are also good hotels, event centres, eateries and restaurants. Buying and selling take place every day but Tuesday is the main market day. On this day people from neighbouring villages bring items to the market for sale and they also buy items and take them to their villages.

My country Nigeria has 37 states including Abuja its federal capital and 774 local governments. The flag of Nigeria has two colours which are green and white. Green stands for Agriculture and white stands for peace. My country Nigeria has faced a serious form of inflation for the past few months and this has forced citizens to protest on the street since 1st August to this day that I am making this post.

What are the historical days of your country?

  • Independence day: Nigeria got her dependence from the British colonial rule on 1st October 1960. Therefore, we celebrate our independence every 1st October.
  • Democracy Day: The military head of head handed power to our democratic leader on 29th May 1999. Therefore, we celebrate our democracy day every 29th May but two years ago, the then president Gen. Muhammadu Bihari changed this day to 12th June in honour of MKO Abiola. Hence, our democracy day is now 12th June
  • Children's Day: We celebrate Children's Day every 27th May.
  • Workers Day or Labour Day: Workers celebrates their day every 1st May.

Please share your country's birth history with us.

Nigeria was colonised by the British government. Then, we have the Northern and the Southern protectorates but on 1st January 1914, the Northern and the Southern protectorates were amalgamated or joined together to form Nigeria under the leadership of Lord Frederick Lugard. The name Nigeria was given by Flora Shaw the wife of Lord Frederick Lugard. She name the country using the Niger River. On 1st October 1960, Nigeria got her independence from British colonial rule and became a republic in the year 1963. The Nigeria flag is green, white and green as designed by Michael Taiwo Akinkunmi in the year 1959 and was officially adopted on 1st October 1960. The green colour stands for agriculture and the white stands for peace.

How much do you love your country and what do you want your country to look like?

Nigeria is my motherland and I have none aside from this. It is abnormal to hate yourself and love others. Therefore, I love Nigeria with the whole of my heart and I always pray for its development, for its peace, for its progress and its unity.

I want Nigeria to grow and become a developed country. A country free from corruption and hatred. A country where citizens will love and cherish each other, A country free from religious sentiments and rises. A country where political leaders will serve with integrity and not to embezzle or syphoned the country's resources. A country where laws and policies will be formulated for the development of the country and not to suit a few individuals. A country where employment and appointment will be given based on merit. A country where the voice of the masses will be heard.

What do you think we need to do to make a country better and better?
To make a country better and better, the following must be done:

  • Leaders must lead as servant leaders.
  • Development should be extended to all parts of the country where necessary.
  • Criminals and offenders should not go unpunished including our political leaders.
  • Salaries of workers at both local, state and federal levels should be considerably the same.
  • Citizens of the country should be well educated and informed on the policies and programs of the country.
  • Citizens must respect the policies and programs of the country.

Conclusion
This is the little I can say about my country Nigeria and what must be done to make a better country. Thank you steemians for visiting my blog. I appreciate your presence and contribution. I invite the following friends to also participate:
