Today I start on a light-hearted trip through rainy days and the reflection that goes with it, a theme that hits the warm heart in every one of us. With great pleasure, I enter this contest hoping to share the nice emotions and philosophical thoughts that rainy days bring.

One day I remember going out with an umbrella and enjoying every aspect of rainy weather as I engaged in many things. It was cool weather and the sound of rain falling against my window provided the perfect atmosphere while I snuggled under a blanket. I decided to take the day off and got a warm blanket and comfy armchair by the window with the only hot cup of tea needed. Based on the circumstances of that morning, I passed the time by watching some of my favorite movies, as the rain only helped to make it cozier. During the evening, quiet songs were sung for me; their tunes were in perfect synchrony with the drops of rain.

Sitting down for a moment to rest, I enjoyed a hot bowl of Khichuri – the taste of Bengali cuisine fit for such a day. Then I knelt back in the chair and got lost in an interesting novel I was reading with the sound of the rain as background music to my reading. When the day moved on, each kind of activity motion picture, music, literature, and khichuri indeed turned the day rainy and reflective in the best way possible. The day went on with heavy rain pouring through the production, and as it stopped, the world was reborn anew and a change of setting was felt.

🔥 How does rain make you feel and why?

Looking at the rain, makes me feel relaxed, and calm along with feeling very thoughtful. The sound of an approaching shower, and the smell of it, the smell of wet soil – both make my thinking feel nostalgic and help to depressurize. It is like nature is washing its face after a long day and the grime starts to dissipate and fade away. In this aspect, natural cleansing brings a fresh outlook in life and this drives me to be more active and involved in my environment Rain too provides calmness that enrages one to be more focused and relaxed with his thoughts. This one only changes the world and makes it to be really beautiful and shining to urge for rebirth. Rainy days are good times for such pastime activities such as movie and music travels, reading, and consuming food such as khichuri. As for me, rain is something that can be considered as the inalienable part of human nature and the way they perceive this phenomenon is a source of inspiration, comfort, and pleasure.

Indeed, I have done this several times and I have been wet in the rain. Of course, once there was one day when my sister’s daughter and I went to the roof to take pictures. I thought that we could take some pictures at least, but during the moment we began the shooting, it began to rain and we both got wet. We giggled together to bring ourselves to enjoy the photo shoot and make it look like this was the most fun, we ever had. Such cool rain became refreshing to all of us, and the wet ground was emitting fragrance that could be smelled. Freed from all cares, dancing and twirling under the downpour voices an obvious bond with nature. This unplanned and unannounced rain burst changed an ordinary day into a memorable one and made one realize how even small things can be a source of happiness in our lives.

Rain affects both the natural environment and human beings since it is an important part of the hydrologic cycle. It has the fundamental ecological function of maintaining ecosystems, food production, and water which is important in drinking and cleaning.

✅ In the natural realm, rain has got immense significant as it makes the plants to grow due to the availability of moisture.

🔹Water Cycle: Rain is important for the constant water cycle from the Earth's surface to the atmosphere, thus, providing the availability of water.

🔹Ecosystems and Biodiversity: It is also a natural source of humidity for the forests, the meadows, and the wetlands where it sustains many plant and animal species.

🔹Soil Fertility: Rain is useful in maintaining soil moisture, and nutrient cycling and it prevents the leaching of salts which are damaging to the plants.

🔹Rivers and Lakes: It refills rivers and lakes ensuring several species and also helps to balance the water in the particular region.

✅ Rain is an important part of human life and everyone must accept the existence of this natural water resource.

🔹Agriculture: A key factor in plant growth, rainfall provides an adequate yield wealth, and food baseline required in society.

🔹Water Supply: Recycles water and makes up for water deficits in aquifers and reservoirs used to supply drinking and other water needs.
