Drawing a Sunflower Mandala: Step-by-Step
Using Canva, the picture was made. |
---|
Today I would love to explain the steps to draw a sunflower mandala, which is, in fact, a unification of a sunflower with a mandala pattern. Here's how I did it:
🔹White art paper
🔹Pencil
🔹Eraser
🔹Color pencils

Step 1: Preparing the Canvas |
---|
I started with a piece of clean and smooth white art paper, which was basically a clean slate for me to start my art journey on. With the pencil, I used to make a small circle at one point on the paper that was halfway through. This would be the deciding Centre of my design. Outside this small circle, I drew another circle that was big enough and slightly far from the small circle in such a way that when joined completed a ring-like structure with the other end touching the middle circle halfway.

Step 2: Creating the Sunflower Petals |
---|
Since this is a sunflower mandala, I felt that it would be appropriate to draw some petals from the sharp end of this needle at the meter point of the outer big circle. I decided to color part of one petal on the half section of the side to feel how it looked. It was reacted satisfactorily so I continued. Subsequently, I appended more units of the sunflower petals and carefully joined as many as possible from the half-circular shape to the next circle. I did this with a considerable amount of care so as to keep it uniformly evenly minored and well-shaped. I drew small petals of the sunflower and colored them in yellow and orange with a transition to the deeper color in the petals. What just now all this eminent did was to bring to life the sunflower side.

Step 3: Fostering the Mandala Side |
---|
On the other half of the circle, I have started drawing more complex patterns with the use of a pencil. In the following two pictures, I drew many patterns of mandalas such as petals geometric patterns, and some other shapes. To achieve the contrast, I tried to introduce some pencil sketch designs which I considered should go well with the sunflower side; it also leveled up the mandala side.

Step 4 Adding More Details |
---|
To finalize I added leaves on one side of the sunflower and the other as a mandala. On the sunflower side, the green color added to the leaves using colored pencils enhanced the natural aspect of it as well. On the mandala side, with the artistic motifs of leaves, I made pencil strokes so that they would not compete with the colors of the mandala but still complement it.

Step 5: Final Touches |
---|
As I finally finished the main parts of the drawing, I took a look at the whole picture to check if everything seemed to be proportionate. Some necessary changes based on my previous interpretations were made here and there. Lastly, I blended all shades and smoothed brush strokes to ensure a tidy work and high contrast, sharp edges. I did not have any idea or plan in mind but as I continued drawing I saw a nice sunflower mandala in the process of developing.

---|
Initially, I did not hold a clear design in my mind but as I worked further I realized that it would be a sunflower mandala design. The sunflower brought out the energy and the mandala patterns added design, so altogether, it was a great piece of art I was eager to draw together with a draw of hope you all like my drawing as much as I enjoyed drawing it.
