Teachers are the people who teach us how to read and write and their effort will not be in vain (Amen). In fact they are the nation builder.

Whose teacher are you? Do you teach for a living?

I have once be a teacher in one of the private school in my community, teaching students is one of the things I enjoy most because I like to share my experience or what I know with others. Seeing kids doing well in their various classes is something that keep interesting me. I may not be perfect but I am trying my best to make perfection out of my students. The class I was posted then was basic 3 I teach them all the subject and I will make sure that they understand what I taught them. Immediately I finished one subject with them I will gave them class work in order to see who is doing well.

I teach for living in order to provide for my family, does who think teacher is an easy job they are not know what they are saying. Teacher is a professional job that must me respected all over the world because no teacher no nation.

Parents also hire me as a lesson teacher for their kids in which I teach them different subject especially mathematic in which they find it difficult to understand.

What challenges have you faced as a teacher?

Teachers face a lots of challenges and these challenges include the following:

• Salary problem: The work of a teacher is not appreciated in Africa especially in Nigeria, their salary is very low and is not attractive also. If you ask students in the classroom who want to be a teacher majority of them will not rise up their hand because they know that their salary is not attractive.

• Poor class room: Majority of the class room in Nigeria is dilapidated. Students and teachers will be see outside under the mangoes tree where they are receiving lectures. This poor class room may be cause due to heavy rain and all other things of nature.

• Poor toilet facilities: Most of the toilets in Nigeria school are not usually last longer, most of the contractors are using fake material instead of using quality material that will last for a long period of time.

Poor toilet facilities

• Our library is not well equip with new book and if our library is well equip with new book majority of students will visit the school library to read different books of their choice.

How do you create a learning environment that is both stimulating and supportive?

I make sure that students understand what I teach them and I also interact with them in a friendly manner. I control my class in my best ability and I don't harsh with my students, sometime I see them as my friends because we joke a lot.

During my lecture with them they listen attentively, most of them grab what I teach them. At the end of the class I will give them class work and home work in order for me to test their understanding on that particular subject I taught them.

What professional development opportunities have you pursued to improve your teaching practice?

Currently am not in any professional studies for now but by next year I want to apply for my Msc and PDE. I want to apply for this in order for me to have more knowledge, in Nigeria you have to go through this if you want to become professional qualify teacher and the period to use to do this course is usually 1year.

However, PDE is not meant for peoples who have already graduate from college of education. They are the real teacher who have go through series of training. But PDE is for peoples who have not pass through teaching line or educational line, they need to pass through this professional course if they want to teach in Nigeria school.

Note: PDE means Professional Diploma In Education
Msc means Master Of Science
PhD means Doctor of Philosophy

Knowledge cannot be finish in this life we will keep on learning new thing.

At present, higher education is very expensive. What is your opinion on this, or is there any alternative to it?

This varies from one country to the others, future of every countries lays in the hand of education, Federal University in Nigeria is not that expensive but to get admission is the problem. No matter the cost of education we most find it by all means to pay for our children school fees, education determine who you are and what are you planning for your future.

Peoples usually say that if education is expensive try ignorance, we can never try ignorance because it does not offer us anything. Most of Nigeria youth go to abroad for their Msc, PHD the cost of education does not concern them they just want to achieve their aim.

Higher education that is very expensive in Nigeria is private own Universities. As a matter of fact majority of parents send their children to this school because they can afford. Some of this parents are into monthly contribution, some of them also apply for loan in their work place in order to make sure that their children are able to read and write. The way the world is moving day by day with new technology it show that we need education to operate this machine.

In conclusion, Teacher are the nation building with out them their can not be productivity of young peoples in our society. We need to teach others so that others can derives this benefit from us in order to achieve this I implore our government and philanthropist in our society to build quality class room, library, and good toilet etc.
I invite @doyoy, @abu70 and @rossnenye to join me in this contest.

Thanks for reading through my post

Our problems in Nigeria has a lot of faces and we are looking at it from deferent perspectives. Where we have classrooms we don't have teachers and places with teachers do not have classrooms. Just do your best and join online teacher training programs for your professional development.

You can visit my post for a link to a free online development program for teachers.

Thanks for the reviews..

Of course, it is common knowledge that a teacher's salary cannot be considered high, especially if you are not yet a civil servant teacher. This sometimes makes some teachers feel quite sad. But if you are a teacher, then remember your main goal. The services of a teacher will not be forgotten at any time. I also share posts about teachers, if you have time please take a look and I am very happy.
