The past farming methods are being lost in the modernization of agriculture

Bangladesh is an agricultural country, 80% of the people of Bangladesh are directly and indirectly involved in agriculture. I am also a child of a middle class farmer family. Agriculture is in our blood right from birth we grew up seeing and using plows, yokes, ladders, scissors and other agricultural implements. Abbu used to take care of the whole agriculture, now he is old, workers are not available in the area on time, so now there is a labor shortage in agriculture. You have to stay outside the house to study. During the season, he had to go home to help his father in the farming. On that day, my father told me to go home by phone (if my studies are not damaged). I woke up the next morning and went out with the aim of planting the seed nuts with the help of a cow.

We are becoming modern but damaging the nature, many birds used to come during land cultivation, now they are not seen much. I plowed the land well with a power tiller and gave it a ladder the previous day. Cows are not available as before. Due to the modernization of agriculture, the condition of cows and buffaloes, the only means of land cultivation in the past, is disappearing. In modern times oxen plows are extra labor time consuming, but there is no substitute for plows to throw nuts.

You have to pull that plow yourself or pull it with oxen. Due to the large amount of our almond land, it is not possible to pull the plow by hand, so we need oxen. Accordingly, we have to manage the haul at 500 taka per bigha, which is 31.25 steem at the steem price. Now we started grinding nuts. The next morning, Jalil uncle came with a cow. He has an ox and a cow.

We start to spread nuts on the ground with nuts. I am panting in this scorching sun. There are two cows pulling the plow on the flat land. But there is no other way as there is no proven modern machine for cracking the nuts yet. So all day long, almonds were spread on three bighas of land like this. Finally, I gave the ladder with a power tiller.

Now a cow is available in everyone's house but it has become difficult to get a cow for farming. Everyone is now dependent on modern farming machinery.
