Who's the best female rock singer according to my criteria?
Tarja Turunen
Why?
Tarja Turunen in my opinion outstands among all the Rock/Metal female singers not only because she possesses a unique and wonderful Soprano Lirico Spinto voice that delights us, but because she, as a female vocalist in the Symphonic Metal genre motivated and impulsed many other careers of this kind for different females with diverse vocal ranges.
She was undoubtedly the inspiration for many of these artists, including the one who would become one of her succesors in the band Nightwish: Floor Jansen, given that she assured having trained herself vocally using the old Nightwish songs interpreted by Tarja, when she was working with her former -also Symphonic Metal- band After Forever.
Notably, Tarja Turunen was invited to be part of Nightwish without even having made a total display of her vocal power, which caused abig impression on its founder, Tuomas Holopainen, who according to the unexpected incredible voice of the artist, gave a totally different twist to the band's music style.
Here I will attach one of her presentations from her last concert with Nightwish, on October 21st, 2005.
