Se hizo con el fin de alertar sobre el flagelo del SIDA y homenajear a Freddie Mercury, quién murió de una neumonía complicada, por esta causa.
El The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert for AIDS Awareness (Concierto tributo a Freddie Mercury para la concienciación sobre el SIDA) se celebró el 20/04/1992, presidido por Mary Austin ( compañera sentimental, en vida de Freddie ) y reunió a más de 72 mil almas y también fue retransmitido a 76 naciones, a un número estimado de 500 millones de espectadores por radio y TV.
Los fondos, que alcanzaron los 20 millones de libras, fueron a parar a la Fundación Mercury Phoenix Trust organizada por el grupo, luego de su fallecimiento.
El concierto fue realizado en el estadio Wembley, en la ciudad de Londres,
y reunió a los siguientes artistas:
"Metallica, Guns N' Roses, Extreme, David Bowie, Elton John, Def Leppard, Ian Hunter, Mick Ronson, Seal, George Michael,Roger Daltrey, Robert Plant, Bob Geldof, Tony Iommi, Zucchero Fornaciari, Lisa Stansfield, Liza Minnelli, Annie Lennox, Spinal Tap, Paul Young y Chris Thompson." En particular, me encantó la participación del también fallecido George Michael, pues su voz es fantástica, casi a la altura de Mercury.

It was done in order to warn about the scourge of AIDS and to pay tribute to Freddie Mercury, who died of a complicated pneumonia, for this cause.
The The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert for AIDS Awareness was held on 04/20/1992, chaired by Mary Austin (Freddie's lifetime partner) and brought together to more than 72 thousand souls and it was also broadcast to 76 nations, to an estimated 500 million viewers on radio and TV.
The funds, which reached 20 million pounds, went to the Mercury Phoenix Trust Foundation organized by the group, after his death.
The concert was held at Wembley Stadium, in the City of London,
and brought together the following artists:

In particular, I loved the participation of the late George Michael, as his voice is fantastic, almost on the same level as Mercury.
It seemed to me an emotional and memorable concert, deserved and worthy of this rock legend.
