Hello friends on Steemit, how are you doing, I hope you are doing well? Am glad to bring you my third story for the contest hosted by @si-official. In this edition, I will share with you a story of how my friend died because of poor medical attention.
Chiubuikem was my childhood friend. We lived in the same building in a compound at Okigwe. Imo state, Nigeria. He was living with his step mother. The father is not always around because he is a policeman (D.P.O) and as such he travels alot. Chibuikems' step mother had five other children with Chiubuikems farther. Chibuikems'mother remarried after separating from his father, and at that time, she was based in Lagos with her new family.
We attended same nursery School, primary school, secondary school. It was only at the University Level that we attended different institutions. He studied computer science at Federal Polytechnic Oko, Anambara State.
While I studied Accountancy at Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic Unwana, Afikpo, Ebonyi State.
Chibuikems' step mum is someone that does not take her words to hospitals for proper medical attention. She normally administers her usual drugs for fever anytime one of her children or her step son complained of any sort of ill helth.
My friend Chibuikem had always complained of pain around his tommy which didn't receive proper attention in years. This lasted for a very long time until he entered the polytechnic. After his National Diploma, He travelled to meet his mum who is based in Lagos, he also wanted to stay to here for his industrial training.
A week after his arrival, the pain surfaced again. They rushed him to a hospital, lo! It was appendicitis. He was operated on immediately, but the appendix had broken in his tommy. There were lots of complications, and he underwent 2 additional surgeries and after about two weeks he died. His remains was Transpo back to his village and buried at Ahoda, rivers State.

Chibuikem was the eldest son of his father and as a result, his death delt him a very big blow. About three months after Chibuikems' burial, his father also passed on one evening in a setting position, at his place of work.
As you have seen, if my friend was taken to the hospital for proper medical attention, he wouldn't have died. This story of mine reaffirms the fact that Self medication is bad.
