Steem Inspiration Contest: The pandemic story

Corona virus started like a joke but the results were not funny. People avoided each other like the plague. During the lockdowns, many businesses could not function and this caused people that lived from hand to mouth starve. The economy suffered a huge loss.

Wearing a facemask was no longer for your safety and the safety of others but was a means for the policemen to extort money from you. People like me with breathing problems faced difficties in breathing with a mask. Murders were disguised as the result of the virus. Everything was going down.

But what really took a hit was education. Education in the Northwest region which was already going downhill due to a lot of civil unrest completely plummeted. The longest lockdown was issued in February 2020. Our first semester was cut short which affected our results. The second semester was attended online which proved ineffective because of many reasons such as poor internet services; constant blackouts; low version phones; inability to teach or learn online; bad online learning platform. We had one week of face to face classes before writing out second semester courses. The results were also terrible.

The 2020/2021 school year began and the university scheduled schools according to weeks. There are twelve schools seperated into 4 groups of 3. What makes it even more ridiculous is the fa t that it is the only university putting in such measures. So while other students attend their classes, we have two weeks of face to face classes per semester. This means that the school system has failed ultimately as you cannot look at a student's degree as a moderate measure of what he or she knows.

Education is now a personal effort and I have no more faith in the school system due to the pandemic. But as someone who prides education over schooling, this has motivated me to teach myself. It is difficult but with determination, i know that I can still make it.
