Rectifying The Charging Fault In A Bluetooth Speaker

in STEEM NIGERIA3 years ago (edited)

A friend gave me call saying his bluetooth speaker stopped charging and he needed a fix for it. I told him not to worry that he should send it to me that I'd give it a check. He brought it to me and he told me he would be needed it the following day. I told him I'd work on it as soon as possible. I was about going to bed after the long day and then I remember I had a gadget to fix and it needed to be returned the following day. I quickly got out of bed to examine the bluetooth speaker to see if it's a fault I can figure out the cause and fix in no time.

It took me some couple of minutes to figure out how I was going to get access into its internals. After several attempts, I finally discovered I was to pop open the front covering which will afterwards grant me access to the screw fittings. In no time, I was done unscrewing and had access into its internal already.

I hastily glanced through possible areas where the cause of the fault might have resulted from. It also didn't take me time to figure that out as it was just a loosed wire.

Genius me right? 😁

Actually, there was something weird about this bluetooth speaker. The battery was being recharged inappropriately that's why it has a white USB (universal serial bus) cable coming out from its side. It seem the bluetooth speaker was giving to an inexperienced personnel when its charing port initially got faulty. And then in the process of replacing it, he/she ruined the PCB (printed circuit board) area for the charging port and then decided to use an alternative means in getting the battery recharged, which was by connecting a 5volts supply directly to the battery.

The cause of the fault was as a result of a loose wire. The wire joining the 'inexperienced personnel' made when trying to provide an alternative recharge solution for the battery wasn't joined properly. So all I did was to rejoin it properly and insulate it. The 'inexperienced personnel' also didn't properly insulate the wires joined.

I was concerned about fixing the charging fault the right way but I couldn't because the PBC area where I would mount a new charging port was damaged already. Also I didn't have a USB charging port replacement at hand and I had to deliver it the following day's morning, so I just had rectify the faulty alternative means of recharging the battery.

After joining and insulating the wires properly, I also properly organized the wires and held them closely with a masking tape.

I decided to create a form of wedge on the cable using an adhesive glue in order to prevent the wire joint from experiencing any form of stress when being pulled externally.

After I was done doing so, I carefully placed back the PCB into its casing, closed it up properly, and screwed it. And lastly I replaced the front cover and I ensure it sat well and fitted it in properly also.

I was happy I was able to rectify the fault on time without having to go through much stress. In fact, I didn't have to make use of my soldering iron 😄. I went to bed feeling happy, and the following day I excitedly delivered my friend's bluetooth speaker to him. My friend was grateful and happy I was able to fix it also.
