The Easiest Way To Stay Out

Here in Enugu State, the easiest means to shutting yourself out of the 'corridors of power' is to ensure that you show signs of intelligence; even slightly.

To increase your chances of shaking hands with the touted kingmakers, cease every opportunity to propitiate them, remain mediocre, exhibit a palpable level of mental docility, nod to their puerile banality, cheer their lackluster performance and remain obsequious in their unmerited, nay pseudo reverence. That way, you're praised, and rewarded for you loyalty as an 'SA or SSA for irrelevances'.

How else do you explain that a State with the highest number of tertiary institutions after Ekiti State would inherit the sorry leadership that she is no bedeviled with- an administration with almost zero intellectualism or forthrightness. An administration gravely marred by colossal ineptitude and incalculable incompetence. This is the worst we have had sine 1999!

Be mediocre, be sheepishly subservient, grovel at their feet, then watch yourself become the darling of politicians in Enugu.

Here is a conversation I had with a former Minister who hails from ENUGU STATE:
Minister: "What are you doing in this State?"
I: "How do you mean sir?"

Minister: "You should not be here. You should be in Lagos or Abuja. That is where everything happens. I think you're too intelligent to be here. Enugu will limit you.

Well, at the moment, I was flattered that the Minister considered me 'intelligent'. But with the benefit of hindsight, I have recognized the blight in that statement and very obvious implications. To be fair to him, "he might have had the best of intentions" for me. But looking back, I can clearly glean what it means for all the intelligent young persons that Enugu State is blessed with. It is simple: once you're thorough with your education (for those who obtained theirs here) jet out to Lagos or Abuja; leave us here with the idiots who can't question whatever we do. To stretch it further, we want your over Sabi here.

What else would explain why we have a lot of people in the ilk of the intellectually bankrupt Bibian - who does not know, that Flavour and Phyno are Enugu as Enugu can be? That she's not more Enugu than the duo who were actually born and breed in Enugu and have projected the State (and city) more than she or indeed, anyone from her lineage, living or dead.

It is sad that people whom you think would know better would tow the path of ignominy just to feed.
Brethren, in all your acquisition of riches, endeavor to acquire some intellectual riches.
