Are You Emotionally Drained?

Being emotional drained is something that happens to a lot of people a whole lot of times. Sadly, not many people actually know what it is or how to handle themselves at this time. Have you ever been in the middle of something and suddenly, you feel exhausted? Not physical exhaustion this time. More like something you can't put your hands on. You might still be able to carry out your daily duties at home or your place of work, but deep down, you can't move a muscle. All you want to do is just lay down and forget about everything till you find your strength again.

People sometimes, do mistake it as depression. While it might actually lead to it if care is not taken, I believe it's something one shouldn't be so worked up about. All you need to do is find the things that make you happy and do them. They help to refill your lost energy and push you back on track.

Now, this is me talking from my personal experiences. Of course it works differently for everyone, but in the end, you need to find your balance. Don't worry so much about not being productive. You have to be in a good place mentally and emotionally before you can be useful to yourself and to others. Focus on getting back on your feet.

Here are some of the things I do

Talk
While I've never been one who talks a lot, I do have one or two persons I go to when I need a release. I just dump it all at their feet no matter how high the pile. And they don't mind. Talk your heart out to people you trust who understand and listen. It helps a lot. Tell them how miserable you are and how you want to murder anyone who looks at you, literally. Regale them with tales of your misfortune. Trust me, you'd feel much better afterwards.

Movie/Music
Movies and music are another go to area for me. Usually, what I do is go to YouTube and look for movies or songs in any genre I'm craving at the moment. Then from the suggestions, will download the ones I find interesting. You can get lost for two to four or five hours entertaining yourself. It might make you laugh and you find that you feel lighter when you are done. Your healing process might start from there. You may see the need to do something productive when you're done, and before you know it, you're back to your normal routine.

Read/Write
Writing used to work hugely for me but it stopped at some point. Perhaps because I got better at it. LOL. Write if you can. I still do, whether or not it's helping. You might not see it at that time but it lifts your spirit. Words are always therapeutic. Similar to when you talk to someone. I read too. Getting lost in books is another way to escape. It works like magic. You might even pick up some writing ideas in the process.

Walk
Connecting with nature is probably the best way. I love it when it windy. You can actually meditate while walking. A lot of things become clearer. You get a hold of your thoughts too. It's beautiful. It clears your mind, and of course, you get to burn some calories as well.

Like I said earlier, these are just suggestions. You need to figure out what works for you. The important thing is that you get back on your feet in the end. Our mental health is the most important.
