Hello great steemit family, I am glad to discuss about accident today because I am sure it will help everyone here in one way or the other.

Accident looks like something that is inevitable in our society, but there are ways that we could avoid it, and again, there are some factors that make it very predominant in our society. Here, I will like to share with you the most terrible accident I witnessed.

THE MOST TERRIBLE ACCIDENT I WITNESSED

It was in the morning at Ikot Ekpene in Akwa Ibom state, Nigeria where I went out in the morning, I was carried by a commercial cyclist. The reckless riding by some of these commercial bike men is not a normal thing, but it has become very rampant that one will assume that it is a usual thing.
So the bike man was not using the road in a very careful manner, but I was not very bothered about it. The roads in Ikot Ekpene are always very busy, without any traffic light or road safety personnels controlling the traffic.
We got to a very busy junction that was the meeting point of four different roads, I was thinking that the bike man will try and navigate his way through such a risky place, but to my dismay, another bike man came from the road joining from right side and he ran into the bike trying to cross the road from our own lane. Since the bike man carrying me was also not very careful, he ran into this crash due to the faillure of his brakes, many other people also ran into this crash due to where the happened and it left so many people Injured.
I was lucky enough not to sustain any serious injury or fracture, but some people were in critical conditions, the scariest was that of a man whose leg was completely cut off during this crash. It was very scary for me to stay at the scene at watch as they take this man into a tricycle and his leg was also taken in differently. There was no ambulance available so they had to use this means.

WHAT CAUSED THE ACCIDENT?
It was later discovered that the bike man who caused this accident was trying to escape from some men who usually stand on the road and charge the bike men for tickets and other related things.
So this was a clear example of an accident caused by wrong structuring of roads and reckless riding.

I think this crash would have been avoided if there were road safety officers on the road to control movements in that very busy junction. Reckless riding is also a major cause of road crashes and if it is stopped, the rate of road crashes will also reduce.

CONCLUSION
Road crashes are not inevitable in our various societies, it all depends on how we take our safety seriously. If we all take necessary precautions against road crashes like obeying road traffic lights, then we will see that accidents will be reduced to a minimal level.
