The Legendary Che

in STEEM NIGERIA3 years ago

The legendary Che came to Africa to help the African people of the Congo achieve their freedom.

But, to Che's utmost chagrin, the Simabas of the Congo, ordinary people who had risen to fight for their country after Lumumba was killed, did not understand that bullets could kill them, believing instead that it was the witch doctors who protected them using charms. Che was unhappy to learn this and he couldn't convince the Africans otherwise. He, nonetheless kept trying until he fell sick and returned to Cuba.

What followed in the Congo however would become one of the biggest tragedies in the history of the troubled country. Moise Shombe who had previously tried to break away from the Congo, (an event that would finally lead to the death of Lumumba), brought in white mercenaries at the behest of the western world, who would mow down mercilessly, the Simabas using machine guns.

The Simabas would ultimately lose in a bad way, paving the way for Belgium and other western countries to come in and recolonise the Congo through bad leaders like Mobutu. It was only Kabila who remained of the Simba resistance.

We learn from the above that emotions and sentiments don't win struggles. Only preparedness and adequate principles win.

It was very bare in Rwanda where the organised RPF routed the interharmwe and the corrupt hutu dominated Rwandan army. It happened also in southern Angola, in the battle of Cuito Cuanavale. The SADF repelled the massive Cuban backed MPLA assult, the biggest modern battle in Africa till date. Let's not forget how the executive outcomes, using only one gunship, defeated the Sierra Ionian RUF repeatedly.

Remember all these battles when you study history. Remember that emotions can't win wars for you.

Only readiness, adequate equipment and strategy will help you win.
