Burnsteem25 || My Nieces and Nephews Are Growing Up Too Fast
I am the youngest of four children, so naturally, I was the "baby" of the family. My sister’s and brother’s kids are now my nieces and nephews, which makes me the "oldest" person in their lives. It is a strange feeling to suddenly be on the other side of the generation gap, but it has been a blessing for me.
What It’s Like to Watch a Niece or Nephew Grow Up and How They Change From Year-To-Year
Watching a niece or nephew grow up is an amazing experience. It's the most beautiful thing in the world. They change so much from year-to-year and it's always interesting to see how they develop and what new skills they acquire.
I remember when my sister had her first baby, I was so excited to meet him. I couldn't wait to see how he would change as each year passed by and I couldn't believe how much he changed in just one year. He learned how to crawl and walk, he started talking, and even though he was still a baby, it seemed like he knew so many things already.
What I’ll Miss Most About My Nieces and Nephews When They Grow Up
I will miss the times when they were small, when they wanted to show how much they loved me. They would give me hugs and kisses, and tell me that they loved me every day. I will miss the times when my nephews and nieces had no idea what was going on in their world. When they would ask me questions like "What's a house?" Or "What's a car?" And I would be able to answer them because I know everything!
I will miss the times when they were just innocent kids who didn't have any worries in their lives. They were happy to just play with toys all day long, without any thought of anything else. But as time went on, things changed. They grew up fast - too fast! And now I don't get to see them as often as I used to because they are busy with other things in their lives.
Lessons I’ve Learned From My Nieces and Nephews
This is what I've learned so far:
The importance of a hug and how it can make you feel better instantly.
The importance of practicing gratitude and how it will change your outlook on life.
How to be more mindful of the world around you.
Conclusion
The lessons I've learned from my nieces and nephews are not things that you can read in a book or find advice on the internet. They are life lessons that only come from being around children.
It's not an easy task to be there for them. It takes a lot of time, patience, and love. But it's worth the effort. So wherever they are now, they will always remain in my heart.
Before you know it, they will also have their own families like you. 😊
