Steemit Philippines Photograpy Contest Week #3: Religious Devotion

A pleasant evening steemians, hope you are all in the best of everything despite of many battles that we have encountered.

Being religious is one of our filipino culture. We visit in many different churches to offer our petitions and thanksgiving, and we went to church almost every day to attend the holy mass because our churches were opened everyday to celebrate mass twice a day once in the morning and once in the late afternoon. Other churches have gatherings occasionally depends on the population of the place, but during Sunday Filipinos never miss to attend gatherings to the church where they belong on their area. Newly born babies are set to be baptized after they born to become a member of the Catholic Church. There were feast to be celebrated as our ways of Thanksgiving to the patron saints in every churches. We celebrated and honor our holy week by doing sacrifices and joining the church activities. But in this times of pandemic activities in every churches were cancelled. The procession of Saints on their feast day and the kissing of images were all abolished. In our homes, cars, stores, and any establishments we can find religious articles and images displayed at the altar or in any corners of the wall. It is our tradition to have feast when there is celebration in our church as our way of thanksgiving for all the blessings received. It is a good gesture because even those were not members of Roman Catholic Church will join the festivities that bring Filipinos closer together. Our religious faith grow stronger especially when the big event happened. The yearly celebration of our Senior Santo Nino in Cebu City that falls every third week of January. Everybody will come to participate the holy novena that will be said every hour of the day for nine days. Traditional sinulog dance will be performed every last hour of novena that brings every believer an excitement. It is an expression of rituals and spiritual practices in prayers. Children are also sensitive to religious belief, that will teach them about the existence of our God. It is a good practice of every Filipinos to connect to our religion and to participate in every activities that will help us deepen our faith about the presence of our creator in our life, and at the same time our community will help us survive from our anxiety that will lead to a stronger faith in every believer.

One of the filipino cultures that cultivate and deepen the faith of Filipinos that God exists even in the most difficult moments of our lives.
